Surprise Pregnancy. Can Her Visa To Us Be Revoked?

Featured Replies

A girl I'm close to you in Thailand has become pregnant. I'm not 100% sure it's mine. And before you bash me for being irresponsible, yes there was protection, but as I'm clearly reminded, it's not 100% effective. Before meeting me she had already received a Visa to work in the US. I'm not yet sure what her choice will be about the baby. To help her make the decision, I'd like to understand the implications of a continued pregnancy on her ability to enter and work in the US, and/or leave Thailand. I'm concerned that the pregnancy could wipe away the great opportunity she has to earn money for her family, or create a new life in the states (she's sweet and beautiful and will likely marry a relatively wealthy man during the multiple years she can be in the country. I imagine her family feels as though she has hit the jackpot by obtaining the Visa). She is scheduled to enter the US in November of this year and should she keep the baby, she would be 2 months pregnant at that time. Any advice/input would be sincerely appreciated.

Is there sometihng in the water? Three guys in the same boat in this forum: unplanned pregnancy, might not be the child's father, want to get mom-to-be in the US ASAP. Why not ask the embassy for a definite answer?

Seems to me the main issue now would be getting by the officer at Port of Entry. I think if they suspect she is pregnant, they may refuse her entry (which they can do), visa does not guarantee entry). Once she is in, there should not be a problem until she has to take leave to have the baby, the employer might revoke her visa at that point.

The decision to not have the baby is her choice and an extremely emotional one. From my objective, non involved perspective, it would be best to not have it.
