Copying Music To Ipod

Featured Replies

My Mrs asked me to download some new music and upload it to her iPod.

I've got the music on my PC but cannot copy it to the bloody iPod no matter what settings I select. I have been able to do this no problem in the past but cannot do it now.

Does anyone know of any other software I can download that allows me to copy music onto the iPod (from WinXP).

PS I've set "Manually manage music..." checkbox + I've googled around but cannot see any decent (free) software

Cheers

Mick

Is her iPod an Apple device, or some other brand?

Are you using iTunes to try to upload it to her mp3 player?

OK I am no expert but I think it might help clarify things if that info is known.

poddox-- a freeware itunes alternative--doesn't take over your system and allows you to load music onto your ipod

zzdocxx - Yes, it's an Apple iPod and I'm trying to use iTunes to convert the music.

Thanks sbk, I'll give that a try now.

Rythmbox if you're on a real OS.......otherwise for a proper ipod you'll need itunes.

Wow sbk. That took all of 3 minutes to download Poddox, install it and copy the music onto the iPod! No why couldn't Apple make it that easy. Thanks.

If there's already music on there, you might want to make sure you pull it off before you try and load up the ipod the first time.

A friend told me about it, so I will let him know he's got another convert. Itunes is serious bloatware, IMO.

I always liked iTunes but yes each release has more bloat on it, and for some reason what was once an elegant and simple user interface has gotten all jumbled up. iTunes 8 changed all the preferences without making them any better vs. 7. Nobody knows why.

The improvement in iTunes 8 is the visualizer: It's now pretty, there are some different options, and, amazingly, it doesn't max out the CPU anymore like it did since pretty much version 1.

That said, poddox is just for transfer to and from iPod, it's not an mp3 player, doesn't support artwork, etc. Still pretty useful to have ...
