Ive been a few times and Id give the same. Not at all impressed with the place. Now get a few miles out of town and its beautiful but the town NAH Dirty, polluted and very overrated

Phuket in most people's minds = Patong (which is pretty much an awful place after the sun goes down other than being a great place for a Thai Visa pissup)

same with Koh Samui etc etc etc

Isaan? it's the largest region in Thailand not a single place and has virtually zero real nightlife value outside of a couple of places.

Basically the OP should dig out a guidebook and decide what he is interested in .... and then (if appropriate) ask specific questions

In Isaan, it defenately depends where you stay, but sometimes nice suprises anyway...

Have to agree. One of the first places i ever went to in Thailand. 2 days was enough. I can't ever see myself going back.

I wish TAT would promote it like that to keep the tosser element at bay

Bangkok ------ 2 - dirty/polluted/overcrowded/too many farangs, rip-offs = litle value for money and friendliness

Koh Samui --- NA

Pattaya ------- 1 - armpit of Muang Thai, although some decent digs

Isaan --------- NA

Phuket -------- 4 - some cracking resorts and beaches but sadly a haven for the undesirable type (although not all )

Chiangmai ---- 10 - for sheer diversity in digs, friendliness, pricing... for the discerning type, 0 for the tosser element

Well in your opiinion but i think pattaya is awful, If i lived there it would only be for sex, What other reason is there?
