PoorSucker Posted October 20, 2008 Share Posted October 20, 2008 After much effort and extensive status change requests, Samui has been upgraded to a new status, according to Koh Samui District Chief Adisorn Kamnerdsiri. The whole island, he said, has been upgraded from a sub-district (thesaban tambon), reporting to Suratthani, to “town municipality” or thesaban mueang reporting to Bangkok. Nothing about Koh Phangan.
