Loud Enough For You ?

Featured Replies

Some of the lightning and thunder from this most recent outburst has been close, and loud, enough to rattle the windows. Just about had me scrambling for my helmet and flak vest, 'till I remembered that we rarely have rain in the 'stan, so it probably wasn't incoming rocket attacks making all that noise.

That last crack has set of a number of car alarms in the near by parking lot.

As luck would have it, I had planned on going out this afternoon on the moto. Looked at the sky, decided to have a cup of coffee and think about it a bit first, and by the time I had the water heated, the first drops started to fall. Ah well, there's always tomorrow !

Lucky you mate. I had a very loud bang and blue flashing light in my workshop and thought one of my machines had blown up. When I went to check --- er later, I couldn't find anything amiss atall, not even a plug socket, so I'm assuming it was a lightning flash. Whatever it was, it certainly got the heart pumping well again!

It's amazing how it takes less than 10 minutes to turn a road into a river! Was driving down Soi Khao Talo last Sunday and it was a torrent of water. Had drove up it 10 minutes earlier and was dry as a bone.

2nd road was pretty well flooded in several areas. junction of soi 10, 11 and what near Mike's mall was pretty bad. It all went down pretty quickly once the rain stopped. I literally watched the drains catch up and the street emptied of water. I was sitting at KISS and eating at the time. It was loud thounder and close.

We had a strike on two of the three overhead HT cables that criss cross rural Baan Ampur. The strike severed the two outside cable which thrashed around tearing up the asphalt and making big holes in the road. (Thought that this only happend in movies) Got to say the power company fixed the problem quickly though, I have no idea how they pulled those big cables back onto the insulators and what kind of black sticky tape do they use to join the cable. :o

All the power lines around here have a big single earth wire for lighting strikes strung between poles above the HT cables but somehow the lightning missed the higher earth wire and got the conductors, dunno how that happened either.
