October 22, 200817 yr I'm wondering if foreigners can cross into Laos at Nakhon Phanom. If so, can I do a border run there? What are the associated fees? Is the cheapest Laos Visa I can get at the border for $35 USD (I'm American). Thanks.
October 22, 200817 yr The visa to Laos at all crossings is 1500 baht or $35 US. You will be crossing to Tha Kek, Khammouane Province. Info at the following website shows it to be a land crossing to Laos so there is a visa on arrival office there as reported by a member on the Isaan forum. Site has more info about the area also. November 17, 200817 yr I use this particular border quite often. The price for US citizens is 35 USD or 1500 baht. You also pay 50 baht border tax on the Thai side. (introduced about one year ago). Another 60 baht for the boat that will take you across the Mekhong. They do close around noon for a break, usually around 45 minutes. The border is closed after 6 PM.
