I've been trying to find information on Thai Visa as well as SSO and Labour Department sites to no avail. Maybe someone here knows whether (foreign) employees are entitled to bereavement leave according to Thai Labour Law?

To explain the situation:

I've been working for the current company for 2 years, paying all relevant taxes to the government, including SSO. Two months ago my father passed away and I took one week leave from work. Since my boss had known about my father's illness, there were no problems to get my trip to Europe approved, on my expense of course.. But now he says that the leave will be deducted from my annual leave allowance! This probably would have been forgotten in long term, but since I submitted my resignation a month ago, he's trying to squeeze me as much as he can. Seen it before how vindictive he became towards employees who have resigned on their own accord.

I know for certain that my previous employer gave 5 days bereavement leave, however, it might have been their global policy as it was a multinational company.

Does anybody have any experience with this, or know how the law protects in such cases?

Thanks a lot!

Dont remember ever seeing any form of bereavement or family leave being talked about in Thai labour law, Think what you are allowed would vary company to company, as is seen as compassionate leave, suppose a company could be entitled to take this off your annual leave, if they really wanted to.....
