Laem Mae Pim

Featured Replies

Just come back from a visit to what used to be one of my favorite Thai style beaches, Laem Mae Pim, Rayong. Now there is an invasion by know-it-all farangs and the appearance of bars. Been going to this place for 30 years and thought it would never change.

I used to enjoy my som-tam and a few beers by the beach with my family playing in the sea, without sun-burnt ancient looking farangs (often with their bg gfs) wondering around and leering at my teenage daughters. One old geezer even offered my wife 5 million baht to marry one of them. What an insult

Seems like the Scandanavians are building their nice little second home enclaves, round and about the monstrous Logan's Condominium.

Anyone know of any nice, farang-free, undeveloped beaches between Klaeng and Chantaburi ?

And I was only going to wonder about the surf, I went there in June and the beachbreak was pretty good for a bodysurf, went there on Sunday 2 days ago and flat as a tack. Saw a dozen or so farangs riding pushbikes on the esplanade or walking along the beach. I had 25 family with me and no one bothered us, if I did notice any dickheads they were young Thais zooming on their finos or blinged up waves. I did notice however that this rime we were unable to just park our seus above the beach we were sort of rounded into half a dozen deckchairs as well, I dont know how much the missus paid so it cant have been enough to break her budget.

Laem Sing has got mud underneath the sand Laem Sadet is pretty good, Chao Lay the water was a mile away, I haven't been anywhere else, I'd vote Laem Sadet as an option.

I love it when a farang asks for a place that is farang-free. :)

I vote first for Chao Lao Beach, then Laem Sadet second. Spent 4 months there this year. Guaranteed you will like Chao Lao. Way better than Laem Mae Phim. Both are near Chanthaburi.

Gawd love a duck!

I wonder if it crossed your wife's mind to ask the old geezer if he would take her, so she could get some peace :)

Thanks for tip re Chao Lao and Laem Sadet! Shall check it out. I often go to Laem Mae Phim but it's time for an alternative.

Our favorite resort in Chao Loa Beach. Family owns two across the st from each other. Non-beach side almost brand new:

LMP used to be one of my favourites also, I was there a couple of months ago and was surprised just how much prices had risen in the seafood restaurants also - I paid 4 times more than a year previous at the same restaurant.

Thanks for the link too...the place it looks lovely. Actually, I have to confess I am really selfish when it somes to nice places because I am worried that once it gets "discovered" it will be overrun with tourists and all the associated problems re litter, traffic, pollution, noise etc etc.

You've made me feel guilty with your generosity in sharing your pick of nice places! :)
