With my TOT 2048/512kbps goldcyber package at 1000 Baht per month I am not able to watch live stream internet tv programs from abroad, because of the lousy TOT speed, which is at best 100 kbps. I cannot record these live stream tv programs because they are copyright protected.

I guess most people here in Thailand don't have an expensive business high speed package, so I am wondering how they deal with this problem. Or is viewing live stream programs not a problem with for instance a Maxnet Premier 2048/1024kbps package ?

I have no problems whatsoever watching streaming TV on Maxnet premier (2M) package.

Belgian news, encoded at 700 something kbps comes in perfect without buffering...

qft. i too have the TT&T 2mb premier package and I stream american football games and a slingbox that is sitting back in New York without a problem. i also have a friend who records the hockey games via EyeTV that I get with no problem. i get a steady 221Kbs/sec no matter what time of day.

Unbelievable, almost. While I have the same speed, at least in theory, I am already glad if I can watch a live stream tv program, without too much buffering, at a 100kbps speed. Most of the time it's only 60 or even 20kbps.

A few days ago I decided to go with GPRS/EDGE i.c.w. a DTAC package, and was already happy to experience the speed increase, which is still only 120kbps, that is, if I have understood the people of the DTAC callcenter well.

Now I am considering to go with TT&T, although I know not everyone is as lucky as the 2 posters above.

I have TT&T both at home and in the office, and it works as Monty says. I've also tried getting a TOT line in both places but after months of trying without luck to get it to work both places I eventually cancelled it. TOT is useless, confirmed by everyone I know who've used it. The problem is, many locations only have one option, either TOT or TT&T, so if you're in a TOT-only area you're in trouble.

I guess that in a city I can choose both of them ?

I have no problems watching live football with Maxnet 2k premier. Where do you want to watch programs from? there are several sites where you can download programs and save them on your hard drive to watch when you want.

Are you using something like SopCast or TVU? Remember, with P2P, your quality and download speed is relying on many other users. So if you are watching some obscure channel or unpopular show, there may not be many others who are also watching (and therefore uploading back the stream).

P2P is not a straight download and you're relying on the seeder and the leechers. I use Sopcast primarly to stream live NFL games, but since these are so popular and there are so many users watching the games, the stream is near perfect. here is the proof:

You'll notice, I am running Sopcast on WinXP which is running on OSX. Steady as she goes...

You mean the country ? Well, it could have been Belgium, but it's another European country. And it's from a site which archives almost all tv programs from that country. The site is "www.tvopjepc.nl" and one of the tv programs on that site, a talkshow, has for example this address "http://player.omroep.nl/?aflID=8173259".

Is this the answer to your question ?

You can easily record it with WM Recorder. Have a look at www.tvopreis.com , much, much better as "tvopjepc". I use it as a substitute for my slingbox when I'm not in the mood to watch the VRT and Canvas in the midle of the night ;-)

TOT in Pattaya. Signed for 1MPS, getting about 1.75MPS these days (checked speed with the TVF speed test) but streaming is atrociously slow. Never mind TV/YouTube, even some Internet radio stations buffer continuously. A TT&T guy told me once that TOT's international Internet connection bandwidth is narrow.

and TT&Ts internation pipe is much wider. When I spoke with TT&T they made a remark that "oh, you'll probably want to surf more international, you'll need at least the 2MB connection". At that point I said, "give me the 4MB" and they steered me away from that insisting that I try the 2MB first. Sounds to to me that the international pipe wouldn't go over 2MB as they weren't interested in taking the extra money from me for hte 4MB.

Not if it's a live stream and his connection can't keep up. Programs like WM Recorder take advantage of streaming servers ability to wait for you and fill the buffer at whatever speed you can handle. Live servers rarely allow that, you need to keep up with what they are streaming.
