True Internet (adsl) Slow As Heck Again... Anyone Else, Too?

Hi :o

This week the internet is acting weird..... here, Monday was OK, Tuesday and Wednesday were very slow (less than 50% of the rated speed, specifically UPload was crawling at 20-25 kB/s instead of my usual 50+ in BitTorrent, almost like capped because it went like that the whole day!) yesterday then it was back to normal and today, again, crawling.

And the interesting thing is - it does not only do that here at my home, but also at my office, which is a completely different part of town (Lad Phrao vs. Bang Na). Same-same - Monday fast, Tuesday and Wednesday crawling, yesterday fast and today crawling again. At the office i experience it with general web surfing and e-mail (sending and downloading attachments), at home mostly BitTorrent. About half of the "juice" is missing.

usually, i have to say, at least at my place i get the full speed that i pay for (1.5M/512K) every time, i very very rarely see slowdowns because i have a very good line (the "exchange" or "node" or what that's called is just 50 meters from my building and i got a dedicated wire going from there right to my room).

Does anyone else experience this??

Kind regards.....

No any problems here at Samut Prakarn. Pingtime to TV SG is at all times 50-54 ms and download goes up to 270 kBytes/s.

Cheers.

I just got True 2m service in the condo I moved in, very very slow compared to TOT I had before(and I was thinking that was slow). Torrents that I used to download on 150 kb/s crawling here at 25-30 kb/s....Speachless

Hi.

My DOWNload speed is "almost there" (roughly 1.3M) however what is important for me is the UPspeed. Which is NOT there. I have just tried a few things (rebooting router, disabling IPV6 in my Ubuntu setup, rebooting the computer) but nope, my upload hovers around the 25K mark. It does short bursts up to 28-29 only to immediately fall back. Seeing the graph for the whole day it is pretty much a straight line at 25 kB/s.

Right now, for testing purposes, i started every torrent i have (close to 35 torrents active) but nope, it does NOT go beyond that "magic point". Which is VERY weird because usually, i am running at the full 50 kB/s at which i throttle uTorrent, even with only 2 or 3 active. AND, right now, going at 25 it is behaving just like it normally would at 50, i.e. e-mail times out (T-Bird/Hotmail) and certain web sites (bild.de) are extraordinary slow.

I would guess TRUE are implementing some sort of "torrent capping" now, however i had the very same problem at my office which has yet to see it's first torrent. And at the identical times as well.

Well i'm about to hit the bed, still recovering from a rather bad cold... let's see how it goes tomorrow.

Good night, and Happy Halloween :o

Test right now:

And on the weekend is the most bad time anyway.

Singapore is ok.

Hi :o

Here are mine, right now, 7:40 AM... same locations as you:

348207390.png

348208097.png

348208499.png

As you can see, the figures are pretty equal everywhere..... and a large chunk of the UPLOAD is missing (that should be 512 or somewhere close). I don't mind if i'm missing 200 off the DOWNLOAD but missing that same amount off the UPLOAD (of which i only get a third of the downspeed to begin with) hurts.

Best regards.....

OK, just tested again and here we are:

Cheers.

EDIT: Just to add, I'm download W7 (3.35 GB) right now at the same moment I run the speedtest and that will have an effect on the result as well.

You mean kbits and not kBytes?

Hi :o

I have been running it the whole day so far (since morning, that is) and, surprisingly, it's up to normal again - 50 kB/s (kiloBYTES). Hope it stays this way.

Trying to download from a server in Hong Kong, but it's taking an eternity:

It's not usually this slow, I don't know what the problem is.

Call yourselves lucky to log in at all. Never mind low speed. Have three lines from True. One for telephone, one for telefax and one exclusively for ADSL. It started out on Wednesday afternoon. ADSL line no signal at all. Called customer service. They told me that a technician would be coming the next day at 2.00 or 3.00 h pm. Then all of a sudden a SMS came in in Thai language at around 7.00 pm. Problem fixed everything fine. I checked, no ADSL signal. Called again and insisted to have the Technician showing up at noon the next day.

He came in and noticed nothing wrong in the house and the problem was outside. One hour later he called and everything was fine explaining a cable was cut during during road work. Everything fine until Friday 2.00 h pm. No signal again. Call to customer service. What kind of modem I use and bla, bla... Indicated that the line is dead and nothing else. The technicial will come to see you but not possible before tomorrow. No, he does not need to come because we have not problem in the house and telling the story from before. Okay, we take care of this by 22.00 pm. All Saturday morning no signal. At 1.00 pm we gave them kind of a very ticked off call. Same stupidity display. What modem and can you call out... bla, bla. Exploded and they hung up. Went to the True outlet in Central Rama 3. Clear words and suggesting if there is a line problem just put on the ADSL signal on any of the other two lines. If the problem is not solved by Monday we are going to cancel the Internet "service".

Sunday. All morning, the line is dead. All of a sudden at 5.00 h pm it gets back to live. Working nicely. It is 6.30 h pm. How long? Who knows. Heard from various sides that True have problems to provide proper ADSL service.

Never mind if their is an out-time particularly if it is to up-grade or sort out technical problems. Internet service will be down for 24 hours or 36 hours for this reason. Just fine, because one is able to cope with this rather than surprise stoppages.

Playing games to buy time does not get anyone anywhere. This is not the way to "save face" and or prevent old customers cancel the not existing service but absolutely counter-productive.

Let's see whether there will be proper service from now on. Means just provide 24/7 ADSL as bought even if occasionally one has to cope with reduced speed in the rush hours. Be true or change the name in line with the company's policy. Far fetched excuses will no get anyone anywhere but eventually all parties involved badly ticked off.

Cheers,

Richard

Hi :o

For me it has, again, been stable and full-speed the whole day today. Which is usual - i have mentioned it several times before, i can normally NEVER complain about TRUE's service from my home location, the main reason probably the fact that i live so close to their node/exchange (or whatever that is called) from which i have a direct line straight into my room, that line (wire) is little over three years old only. Indeed, if i have a slowdown at home it is highly unusual.

At the office it's a different story - more "down" than up and more "slow" than "fast" - but there it doesn't cost my money so i don't care :D

Best regards.....
