Debt Collecting Companies: Lawyers Or Mean Bastards?

Featured Replies

Dear All, thank you for the advice, opinions and comments my "embezzlement" post has received. The update is that the bastard refuse to see me and communicates by email only. He agreed to refund only some of the missing 28k. As your advice is to stay away from the cops if you're not 1000% legit (I'm not), I got an idea from a thai billboard on Rama IX. It advertised one of these "nak soep" agencies (private investigator) and also a debt-collecting service. I imagine two scary-looking guys visiting you at home and asking for the money you owe to their client.

Maybe that works better than the cops. Did anyone have any experience with such agencies? Or heard about the way they operate?

Thanks a lot,

Lusty

<deleted> man it's 28K - let it go. What are you trying to do, open a can of worms and cause yourself a shit load of trouble.

Hey Bud,

even if he gives you back a couple of thousand, just take it. This issue seems to be causing you to burn up inside. It ain't worth worying about, unless pride (loss of face) means a lot to you. It is just one of the experiences which will better prepare you for the rest of your life.

What is his reasoning in not paying all of it back and only some?

Could he simply not have the money? In which case it matters little which course of action you take unless its one that causes him to have a kidney sold.

The guy has paid a little, what's to say he won't pay the lot?

I think patience, with regular friendly reminders might be the best play.

Thank you guys. The Buddhist approach will surely work better...

"Debt Collecting Companies: Lawyers Or Mean Bastards?..."

I'm still trying to figure out the difference between lawyers and mean bastards. 555

.......... nope - you're wasting your time - they'lll want a rather large slice of the cake and the the only way they will act on your behalf is if you have all the I's dotted and all the T's crossed. You're not a 100% legit (as you admitt yourself) - you are attracting attention you could well do without.

My opinion: it simply is just not worth the hassle .......... let go and move on. (lesson learnt)

28k baht? cheap lesson mate

$ or £, why put temptation someones way?

Suck it up and move on, having been fortunate your id wasnt cloned, stolen ,abused, as if he had really bad intent, and all the details he had access to about you, bank accounts, credit cards and god knows what would be springing up in your name, and ruining your life for real.

Dont put yourself down over it, its not a bad thing to think well of people.

But unfortunately people will never cease surprising you in this life, until you get to the pleasant surprise of finding real decent people, yes they are out there, but you cannot afford to presume everyone is honest.

Good luck in your business and keep going, karma may reward you in ways you never imagined.
