Thailand Vs Uk Prices For Computer Parts

Featured Replies

I'm planning to go on holiday to Thailand and I'm just wondering if there is a big price difference in high end computer parts? I'm not too bothered about warranty issues, most likely, I will test the parts then before taking it back to UK. If there is only 5-10% price difference then i'll just purchase in UK.

Could someone give me some advice? Thanks.

Without knowing exactly what you want, my feeling is with the recent fall of the pound (and other currencies) against the Thai baht, any savings you may have been able to make a couple of months ago have now vanished. There are some Thai online computer stores linked in the FAQ so convert their prices and see how they compare to the UK.

i would say it's cheaper in europe, the market is bigger than here.

Check out this uk sight and make your own comparisons.

Not sure about UK, but Thailand is a lot cheaper for computer parts than Switzerland, France or Germany...

I did my own "mini-survey" in Pattaya in April this year by going to TukCom and looking at my favourite UK websites.

External Hard Drives (Western Digital and the like) - UK cheaper

Laptops (spec matched as closely as possible) - Thai and UK prices seemed to be within 10% of each other. I used the Toshiba Satellite as the guide - obviously other brands may differ.

Pen drives - same same (ie difference too small to matter)

As ever in these things there will be swings and roundabouts and, importantly, that was when £1 bought you 66Baht. I would suggest that UK is now cheaper - I'm buying a Netbook before my next trip in January.
