Has anyone else had problems sending emails via Outlook here? I am currently connecting with AIS and have this problem but have also noticed it on various other connections I have used at net cafe`s etc. It receives emails fine but gives error on sending, I can only think this is an ISP problem here?

Thanks.

Many times ISPs will block you from using SMTP (outbound email) from any server other than their own. If this is the problem, you have 2 options. One is to configure Outlook to use their SMTP server. The second option is if your provider of mail services offers an alternate port to use. Default SMTP is on port 25 and many providers will use an alternate port such as 587.

Great info thanks.

Never had this problem in any Country but here and it`s so annoying when you have work to do and have to send via web based. I tried port 587 with no joy. When you say "One is to configure Outlook to use their SMTP server" where would I find that info? I`m connecting using Edge at the moment.

Some other info here that might help other users but my SMTP is not listed :o

Problems with POP/SMTP E-mail accounts

In Thailand, lots of internet users a problem with sending e-mails by SMTP. Instead of sending the e-mails, the attempt only results in an error (e.g. Socket error 10060 error number 0X800C...). The problem often lies in the fact that the internet provider uses Port 587 instead of the Port 25 which is usually the standard set-up in all e-mail programs.

For this reason, it is worth trying swapping over to port 587.

I would like to make this more clear using an Outlook Express example:

Tools > Accounts > Properties > Advanced

Transfer from 25 to 587 in Outgoing mail (SMTP)

If this does not work, there is always the emergency solution of using a foreign network SMTP-server, e.g. the ones offered by your internet provider.

Setup in Outlook Express:

Tools > Accounts > Properties > Servers

Enter the necessary server under Outgoing mail (SMTP) for example:

  • smtp.csloxinfo.com
    smtp.ji-net.com
    smtp.tttmaxnet.com
    mail.truemail.co.th

Unfortunately the above instruction also has a major disadvantage. When sending e-mails from such foreign SMTP-Servers, there is always the danger that the spam filter program of the receiver will filter them out as unwanted mails. However if you cannot avoid using such an emergency solution, it would make sense to tell the recipient to take your e-mail address into his positive list of contacts in his spam filter.

Thanks John tried that but still no good anybody with any other ideas on this issue feel free.

It might work on port 80. Give it a try, but if not, call AIS as suggested above.
