Not Sure How It All Works At The Border

Featured Replies

I am from the Uk I have a double entry 60 days tourist visa runs out in feb09

I entered thailand 9th sep 08 so its nearly time to exit thailand

my exit date is the 7th november

my plan is to stay a further 60 days but maybe 30 after that

my question is I plan to exit thailand via the friendship bridge at nong khai

my understanding is I buy a border pass enter laos $35.00 buy some duty free items then return

to thailand an hour or so later thai immigration look at the visa & give me a further 60 days Is this correct

or have I misunderstood how it works please advise if this is the wrong process

Correct. The Visa for Laos is 1,500 Baht. Don't forget the passport size photo. You enter Laos turn round and come back again. Always a good idea to visit the duty free shop.

Did you realise that you can extend your Visa for another 30 days at Immigration in Thailand for a fee of 1,900 Baht.

You can also do this with your second entry.

If you don't want to leave now go to immigration and get a 30 day extension (1900 baht).

It's a visa on arrival you get on the Lao side of the bridge. One photo 1500 baht or $35.

The remainder is all correct.

Yes Nong Kai. You can get your extension there.

2 photos Copy of passport photo page, visa and entry stamp pages and TM6 (departure card).

You won't have to make the border crossing until 30 days after the 7th.

Thai border side immigration office at nong khai I believe its some where before getting to the freindship bridge

I would rather ask a few extra questions than get it all wrong on the day that matters lolp

Yes its before the bridge on the right side of road if you are coming from Udon.

gcrepos, did you get your 30-extension at the Nong Kai immigration office without any problem? I am asking because another memer is worrying in this post that they hive the 30-day extension on a tourist visa only if the applicant has an air ticket out of Thailand within 30 days.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
