Visas For Couple

Featured Replies

My wife is considering a move to Thailand to teach English. We understand the visa requirements for her in regards to working / teaching. However, as her spouse, what kind of visa might I be entitled to, if any? I don't intend to teach. Would it just be a regular 60-day tourist visa that I would have to renew? We are both British. Thanks in advance for any clues.

You would get non immigrant O visa as her spouse.

See 7.19 for you and 7.6 for your wife of police order.

Yes. Once your Wife has her 1 year extension you will be entitled to the same extension as her.

Your other option is a Multi Entry Non O Visa. It would mean you having to do a border run every 90 days but can be stretched out to 15 months if you do your last run just before it expires. Easily available from Hull Consulate. You are going to need some kind of Visa to start with. You do not know how long it will take your Wife to get sorted out with her requirements. At least get a Single Entry Non O Visa. This would give 90 days.

Getting your wife a WP is very easy for a teacher, can be done within 1 week.
