I use Macspeech. I used Viavoice and Dragon on the PC, and though Macspeech is not so feature-rich as Dragon, I personally prefer it and have found the voice-to-text to be faster and generally ore reliable. Probably the Phillips engine.

Thankyou David

I have had a couple of very helpful PMs, but very interested in yr experience.

I recently had an irrecoverable Hard Drive failure and lost the first part of my life story and other stuff too.

I decided to turn a negative into a positive, write it better and use voice recognition and get the thing done better and quicker (not to mention back up better!).

On the side I am helping an elderly friend with a shaking hand to get and use Dragon NS 10.

He has tried 9 in the past but complained that it took a lot of learning his voice and that when he paused, thinking, it inserted words. But I saw another friend using NS 9 yesterday and was very impressed. His mistake rate was one, writing "her" instead of "our" in two longish paragraphs. He didn't have those problems so I am wondering if it could be the elderly friend's rather gravelly and lower voice. Obviously if the pitch is lower there are less bits of information to work with too.

Also interesting the younger friend was just using a desk mike, nothing special at all.

Thanks again, John.
