November 7, 200817 yr I have just removed a dog tic from my foot. It was only small, but may have been on several hours. Should I go to the local clinic/hospital.?
November 7, 200817 yr Well, there's nothing wrong with your eyesight. If it was a dog tick/flea, then you are probably safe.
November 7, 200817 yr Author Thanks, I'd been checking the dog earlier, and it most likely came from him. The vets don't stock Tick/flea collars down hear, as the locals won't buy them. So I powder him on a weekly basis.
November 7, 200817 yr You should try a product called "Frontline". Readily available in Thailand. You just apply to his neck and it will do the trick for a month or so. The vets can also inject your dog with a vaccine that lasts a bit longer. As far as humans being biten by tics is concerned though, i don't think you have anything to worry about. Been biten myself by them many times and have lived to tell the story!
November 7, 200817 yr Author I can't get that in Ranong either. Same reason, the locals won't buy it.
November 7, 200817 yr use ivomac. and most locals that keep animals have it. its a liquid. u can give it oral or injection (check our animal forum thread s about that.) just dont inject in collies or any dog with collie ancestory, it is fatal. if u develop a fever and /or rash, u must go to a hospital and mention u had a tick on u. other then that, no need to go to clinic cause they wont find anything. google tick to find out the people diseases that u can get from ticks (they dont go from dog to human, the diseases i mean, but ticks are a vector for several human diseases, rocky mountain spotted fever and similar types for an example. its not a specific dog tick. there are several types of ticks which also like humans , actually any mammals and other animals with blood to drink. bina israel
