Can this Jewish debate be put in a nutshell ? I will try. For centuries, the Jews were the ones that killed Jesus. An outrage for Christians. For centuries, Jews were not allowed to engage in "normal trades". They were practically forced to become self employed merchants, traders, money lenders (Bankers) etc etc etc..... No wonder a good number of Jews became "affluent" (by far not all). In Nazi Germany the Jewish population was about 0.5% of the German population. (Talk about a minority), but a good part of them were successful in business. Adolf found this unacceptable. And: No matter where they stayed, the Jews kept their religion and culture alive. Leading to the conclusion, that they may have lived in a certain country for a long time, but due to their adherence to "the Jewish way of live", are not 100% "integreable" in a Christian universe. Therefore not being 100% reliable citizens. A pretentious undercurrent, still alive in some quarters. In other words, it has never been easy for Jews, unless they live in Jerusalem.
