Renew O Type Visa With Less Tha 6mo On Passport

Featured Replies

my visa is due to renew next month but I only have 5 months left on my passport, do I need to renew passport first.

For an extension of stay they would only give it for the period that your passport is valid.

If you mean going out and getting a new visa or a border run if you leave the country you would not be allowed to re-enter the country because you don't have 6 months left on your passport.

So yes you should get a new passport.

Play safe, and get a new passport, all you want is a '''jobs worth''' Immigration Official,[which most of them are],and you could be refused entry, and be well in the brown stuff. :o

Thanks all, I'm on my way. Cheers.

No need to get a new passport yet. Immigration will only extend till the day your passport is still valid. But when you have a new passport they will transfer the stamps for free and give you the rest of the extension of stay, also for free.
