November 12, 200817 yr Hi Guys, I tried to buy a motorbike in KhonKaen but this seems difficult. I have got a visa (type O) and a Thai-drivinglicence within my adress in Samui. Also I`ve got the "green book" from my old honda wave, witch one I would like to sell. But all this seems not to be enough One shop told me that he probably could make the registierung with my Thai-drivinglicence. Because he told me that this maybe will take long time (till 3 month) and I fear it could fail... Is there e a easy way to buy a motorbike in KhonKaen? Thanks a lot Albert Edited November 12, 200817 yr by albhol
November 12, 200817 yr Registering new cars / motorbikes (i.e getting the plates and book) can take a long time, 3 months is possible. If you want it quicker then buy one that has already been registered.. second hand Totster

November 12, 200817 yr You could always use the technique that I did when I bought my car. Sit down with the sales rep and place a large wad of cash on the desk, say you want it in your name, and if the word 'problem' is mentioned, start to remove the cash..... for some mysterious reason, all the problems then start to up and disappear. The only time there should ever be a real problem registering a vehicle in your own name, is if you want to buy it with monthly payments. Edited November 12, 200817 yr by Thaddeus
November 13, 200817 yr You must provide either a work permit or the document from immigration stating your currnt address(these are valid for 1 month only) easier enough
November 13, 200817 yr Author Thanks guys for your advice. I am going to talk with the immigration in KhonKaen, if there is one... If anybody know where the immigration is located in KK or have some experience with them, please let me know! Albert

The nearest is Nong Kai 150 kilometres or Korat a little further. Nong Kai has a bit of a frosty reputation.
November 13, 200817 yr Author Thanks all of you! I am going to buy the new motorbike while I stay samui next time, because it´s easy there. Pattaya is not so far and could also be a good place, but I don´t know the rules there... Albert Edited November 13, 200817 yr by albhol
