As the title says how can I check which version of SP3 I have installed and where can I download the latest version if I need to?

I am planning to re-install Windows so do I need to install SP2 as well as SP3 or does SP3 include all the updates of SP2 so SP2 is unnecessary?

Thanks

Go to Control Panel, Add / Remove Programs, and insure that the box is checked at the top which says "Include Updates". You should scroll down and all your Microsoft updates will be displayed.

Alternately, you can go to www.microsoft.com/updates and let it scan you machine and it will tell you what updates you need.

BTW. Only recommended it you have a legit copy of XP :o

Langsuan Man - The info on SP 3 Add/Remove is Version: 20080414.31525 Don’t know if this refers to the version number as it does not seem to fit with anything similar to a SP3 version number.

Benjamat - System Properties brings up the following info

Microsoft Windows XP Professional

Version 2002

Service Pack 3

Not much help as to version :D

NHJ - winver brings up:- Microsoft Windows

Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.080814-1236 : Service Pack 3

I have also checked

System Information:- Service Pack 3 Build 2600

Belarc Advisor:- Windows XP Pro Service Pack SP3 (Build 2600)

Everest Home Edition:- Just gives Service Pack 3

I would guess that my version is 2600 I get regular updates from M$ so I would assume this is the latest version – is it? :o

My other question is do I need to install SP2 as well as SP3 or is the whole package included in SP3

:D

hi,

you have the final version of SP3 and no, the Service Pack are cumulatives so no need to install the previous ones.

I think you are confused, the results from system tell you exactly what you have, - xp with service pack 3. Which as is said by others is the latest version.
