Another Question Regarding Proof Of Onward Travel

Featured Replies

I'm here in Kuala Lumpur preparing to get my tourist visa on Monday. I see that one of the "required" documents is an airline ticket proving that I'm going to be leaving the country within the period of the visa.

The issue is that this is the first of two 60-day tourist visas that I plan to get, and I plan to extend each by 30 days.

I would really rather not have to purchase an airline ticket now, as I don't want to be forced into making a decision so early regarding where I'll be going to do my next visa run. I also don't want to buy the ticket with departure from Thailand within 60 days, as I plan to extend the visa by another 30 days in Bangkok. I would therefore be purchasing a ticket for departure just within the 90-day period.

My question is how strict the folks at the consulate are regarding this proof of onward travel. Any help you could give would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!

Depends on your nationality.

If you come from a county where you can get a 30 day visa exempt stampt (Not visa on arrival),

you should have not have any problems.

You should have no problems at all without a ticket. I've never heard of anyone being asked for one in KL or Penang when applying for a tourist visa.
