A Mate Of Mines Has A Virus.

Featured Replies

As the tile says. He has a virus thats stopping him getting rid of it. I told him to download Avast and also adaware to check for virus. He said he can go to the website but the virus is stopping him from downloading these programs. He is using IE. I have told hime to download Firefox and try. He's doing this now. But i know there are online virus scanners. Whats would you recommend? Also Do they/can they remove the virus? Help needed asap. Thanks in advance. He did say he done a Adaware scan and it told him he had bad stuff in the PC. When he goes to delete them. The PC closes down.

this is the problem I have found with the badware over the last couple of years - once you are running the windows OS on the machine the badware protects itself.

the solution is to boot from CD and load an OS into ram and then run the cleaning programs from the CD - that way you can examine and clean your hard drive without having to boot windows.

got to UBCD4win , download , unpack , run the UBCD4win builder with a windows CD in the drive , then burn the resulting ISO to CD. ( you will need to do this on a clean machine )

change the Bios to boot from CD on the infected machine , boot your new disk and you will come up with a windows like GUI that you then can use your mouse with to run adaware , spybot and antivirus etc.

a better tutorial will be on the site

This online virus scanner I have found to be good in the past
