I thought I was getting the hang of Thai but having real difficulties prounouncing the difference between the words ใบ and ไป... basically every time I try to say ใบ it comes out as ไป.

driving me up the wall and the missus thinks its hilarious.. any tips please!!!

the first is a hard "b" sound whilst the second is more of a bp/p sound ... use P in your mind ...

Can you hear the difference in the sounds used for leaf and fish respectively?

I can just about tell the sounds apart - in a quick test then between ใบ and ไป i got about 80%. but it appears I can only make the ป sound! weird as I am sure the บ sound is much more common in english. hmmm..
