Hi everyone I am just interested if you could tell me where this picture was taken in thailand? I know it was taken in 2005 by a friend and I am wondering if it is showing tsunami damage or just a demolition site before building?

Anyway heres the pic. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok I just need to know if this could potentially be the aftermath of the 2004 tsunami or if its something else like a demolition site?

Thanks

My wife read the writing on the wall and it says Tsunami (jobotau), she doesn't know what the (jobotau) means, but the first word is tsunami, so I'm guessing it's Phuket. It's definitely from the tsunami though.

Crimpy, Can't help with the actual picture, except to say that under the new houses it looks like the sea. So the houses must have been built after any waves, or they would be battered.

But, living in Pattaya, I see many sites like that. As soon as any land is being cleared, or has been left empty, fly tippers dump all sorts of rubbish there. Then the land owner is left to clear it up before they can build on it.

The writing on the wall says tsunami then below that jangwat phang nga. Looks like tsunami damage given the state of the road and the furniture and whatnot in the debris.

The word "tsunami" is there. Underneath is จพ.ท. (jor por. thor.) The จพ could refer to Jangwat Phangnga, but I don't know what the ท stands for (เทศบาล?) (thaesaban/municipality?).
