Additional Stay In Thailand Allowed?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Hopefully someone can give me some correct info, i arrived 5th Sept on a tourist visa (30 days) and have since been to Aranyaphratet twice for two more tourist stamps. I'm looking to stay a while longer and was told if i go over the border to Laos and stay 1 night i can get 60 more days stamp to stay in Thailand.

I hold a British passport.

Could anyone confirm this please?

Do i have to visit the Thai Consulate in Laos?

Thanks and Regards.

I will presume you are talking about 30 days visa exempt stamps.

You can only have 90 days in 180 days.

Your solution is to go to Vientiane in Laos and get a proper tourist visa.

You can even get a double entry visa.

With this visa you'll get 60 day entry stamp.

This can be extended with another 30 days at any immigration office.

After 90 days, go to the border and get your second 60 day entry.

Extend this for another 30 days.

Total 180 days.

Now you can choose to go and get a new visa again or go to the border and get a 30 day visa exempt stamp.

Firstly Thanks for the advice,

So basically i just apply in the Thai consulate in Vientiene for a double entry visa?

Do i need any documents at all apart from photos and British passport?

Finally, any reccommendations on decent hotels there?

Thanks to all in advance for the info.

Regards,

James.

Thanks for the info,, much appreciated, it sounds rather daunting after reading all the reports.

Is the border open 24 hours as i plan to get to Nong Khai at 5am?

Can anyone apply for Non-Immigrant visa?

Lite beer, could you explain when you said ''check the enter before date'' please?

Anyone know any nice but reasonable hotels near the Mekong River?

Again, thanks to all who have posted info.

Regards,

James.

Sorry guys, forgot to ask,, this X2 entries i should ask for,,does this mean i need to leave afer 1 month then come back in?

As you can see im rather new as this,

Thanks again for any info.

This will mean that you will get a stay of 60 days. When this 60 days are nearly up you can go to Immigration in Thailand and get another 30 days for a fee of 1,900 Baht.

When this 30 are up you cross a border and come back again to activate your 2nd entry. Again you can extend this at Immigration for a further 30 days.

When you get your double entry Visa it will be valid for 3 months. On it will be written "Enter before......"

You must do your second entry before this date. This means that you will lose a day or two from your first 30 day extension.
