Au Pair Employment For Thai Women

Does anyone have any information on employment prospects (whys & wherefores) of Thai women being employed as Au Pairs in USA. One of my lovelys is at some sort of job fair, where this was presented to them as an option for overseas employment. This job fair is supposedly in Kanchanaburi these past few days. Any inf or comments appreciated. Thanks.

When my Thai wife and I lived in England, one of my wife’s friend’s from Bangkok (Siriporn) came over to work as an Au Pair for a lady Doctor with 4 kids in Norwich.

At first all seemed well, but after a month the Doctor and her family treated Siriporn more as a slave than an Au Pair. She was working from 5.00am up to midnight, taking care of 4 kids, housework, walking the dog, ironing and she alleged that the Doctor’s husband sexually molested her.

After 3 months of her employment, we found out about it and I ended up driving to Norwich from London with some mates to get Siriporn out of there. We did and managed to find Siriporn employment in the shop where my wife worked. So a happy ending, but luckily Siriporn had us to protect her.

Consider all this before letting your G/F travel abroad for an unknown employer.

It's an entire scam from the git go, irregardless of the destination's host country. Known 2 women (not gf's) that have been taken in by it and subsequently have warned off several dozen from those periodically asking about it after seeing offers of it by a company who has switched names after having been found out and busted previously.

Anyone read Thai? Here is a website that shows a calender of events in November.

Au Pair Thailand

Of course, one would hope that a thorough investigation of the company would take place before paying any money or getting on plane to Europe or the US.

One problem with Thais working overseas is the companies that arrange overseas employment tend to much more interested in gouging all they can from the worker rather then actually offering a real service.

I don't know about Paris or the USA but certainly in Rome almost all the Thais living there are working as Maids/Au Pairs. I mean remarkably high number.

Thanks for the website. I will have my Thai friend translate it for me. This may or may not be a legit venture that my GF has been involved with. I have no idea, as I was told nothing about her intention with this until the day she left for a 10 day absence. The usual lack of communication and general secretiveness that seems to go with the territory with these women. I just got a call from her at 5 pm today & she was quite upset & "serious", for what exact reason I don't know. I assume perhaps she got scammed. Fortunately, it was not my money that paid for this. Total 15,000 bht, which she says her "Father" gave her.

Send me pics of her and I might hire her as my maid

Sorry, I'm ahead of you. I can't quite picture her doing work as a maid. She is pretty "choosey" about what work she will do here in LOS. I think this whole au pair idea is one of her fantasies about the good life overseas & has no concept of the realities.
