Extension Of Stay Based On Married To Thai Woman

Featured Replies

When I applied the six years extension of stay based on being married to Thai woman in October 2008 they had a couple of new rules for this year.

1. You have to go to your local Immigration office within your area.

2. You must have 2 copies of EVERYTHING, 2 copies of TM7 and 2 copies of passport, passbook, marriage docs etc.

3. You are enforced to do the 90 days report from August 1, 2008.

Good Luck. :o

1. Thats been reported a lot.

2. I had to do it for my extension. The local office is doing that in case the paper work gets lost when they send it to the next level up for approval. That's good for you also.

3. Thats a new one. Did they say why?

I'm reading that to mean that he's saying that people are forced/required to do 90 day reporting starting 1 Aug.

If that's the correct interpretation, I don't think it's new.

Perhaps that particular imm office wasn't bothering to to do the reporting before and are now being told to toe the line.

TerryLH, You are reading my mind. I think that is correct what you say. :o

90 day reporting has ALWAYS been a requirement.

Check the Immigration Act Section 37.4

Perhaps they are just getting round to checking on it. :o

Local office sounds logical, why would you want to waste time going elsewhere??

2 copies, is that really new??

One for the local office and one to go to Bangkok for approval..........

These matters have to be approved at Head Office.

"These matters have to be approved at Head Office."

That would be something new.

Not new.

Extensions for marriage have to go to the next level up from the local office. The local office for me sent it to Korat.

That is why you have a 30 day wait after application before you get the extension stamp.

I had to go through the same 'hoops' last February at Kap Cheong

All the other points you raised are not new, but this is definitely a new one on me. 6 years???

He means that he has been extending his stay for a total of 6 years. One year at a time.
