drbrit
Has anyone ever traveled with Asia AsiaX's XL Seats? (Premier class) Do they have individual entertainment consoles? Or is it just the central cabin video. And how about food & drinks?
wileycoyote
Sounds a good idea, anyone more info ?
Briggsy
It appears from their booking process there is no free food. I very much doubt at the prices they are offering that there would be TVs in the back of the seats. Very cheap though. Think I'll buy a ticket. I am more concerned though at them going bust between now and 6 months's hence when I fly.
Old Croc
I've booked on the xl seats for my pth-kul-pth legs in mid 2009. There seems to be more room to stretch out, but I don't think you get any thing more in the way of food, entertainment, etc. Like the other poster, I hope they're still in business then in the current economic climate. Jiu-Jitsu
Don't worry about them going out of business at this stage.
jingjoe
I've used the XL seats on the A330 between the Gold Coast and KUL (the London flights will use the A340), and they were EXCELLENT. Forget about lounges, entertainment of any kind (although I understand they now offer personal dvd bizo's), forget about any extras EXCEPT the fact that you're in a wide business class seat (not a skybed of course), with business class leg room, in a relatively private cabin. AAX didn't sell spirits on-board but if you grab a couple of the small bottles duty free, you'll be sweet and can get your mixers & ice on-board. I also held on to my large plastic cup from a coffee before boarding, which came in handy as all you can get on board are those pissy little styrofoam cups. torrenova
About 20k each way it seemed but with no entertainment and having to add on a hop over too KUL then I'm afraid it is a no no from me. I suppose a real saving in economy could entice me but Etihad have a great product from bangkok at not much more than Air Asia.
jingjoe
Etihad have a great product from bangkok at not much more than Air Asia It's a bit like saying, "I don't need this 3 bedroom house, when for the same money, I can have the studio flat next door, it's got a TV and microwave." That's fine for small people that aren't bothered by economy dimensions. The topic of this thread is quite clearly about Air Asia X's, XL (Extra Large) seats. drbrit
Thanks everyone for your responses and in particular the pics, as there is little information on the AirAsia site. Its helped me to make my decision

briley
Eh?........... That flight is £513 total - where has the £743 come from? But you haven't included luggage, seat booking or meals (all optional) But lastminute is quoting Ethiad as £501 Lon to BKK inc meals, seats etc. ( I assume that Rinrada wants to go there) Of course it is over the Easter week-end period so fares will be higher than before or after. travelwarrior
Is the XL seats on the KL-Perth-KL the same as the ones shown in Jingjoe's pictures? The pictures shown on Air Asia's website of their seats on A330 looks so old and not as nice as Jingjoe's pictures.
syd barrett
These budget airlines are good value when everything goes well and you just have hand luggage. But the minute things go wrong, they don't want to know. That means that you are left with no rebooked ticket, no refunds, no compensation for lost luggage or fog or snow. etc. etc. My advice to anyone is pay the extra and be assured of the quality of a 'proper' airline. I once made the mistake of flying British Midland LON-MAN-LON because it was 20 quid cheaper than BA and did I suffer!?
