BigBikeBKK
Bangsaen Bike Week 2008! What a blast! Rode down from BKK on a beautiful Friday afternoon with Trent (aka NakedAir) on his XJR 1300 and the missus on the back of my baby Ninja. There were BIG bikes, like this Chevy V8 Kannon- WOW! There were small bikes~~ There were sexy bikes~~~ There were fast bikes- There were slow bikes~ There were bikes from other planets- There were totally cool bikes! There were extreme manga bikes~~ And some slightly less than cool bikes who thought they were pretty cool all the same... There were bikes that defy description--- Stay tuned- More to come in Part II!!!
BigBikeBKK
The first afternoon/evening we parked ourselves in front of the Ducati Club cafe and enjoying listening to the Ducs roll in- I don't know much about Ducatis and they're a bit out of my price range with the massive Thai mark-up, but they are still magnificent machines- How come even with offical dealership in Bangkok there are still so many Ducs without plates??? There were a few characters too and it was a great place for watching the freaks- And more freaks... Oh, and some more freaks! No water pressure in the room? Trent didn't let that little detail stop him from taking a shower! A few more pics worth sharing NICE! New meaning to the phrase "spank the monkey"... Hey- I'll give you this banana if you don't <deleted> on my XJR Old cool J-style! Thai Biker Patches- Ready to ride! Chopper Lovely I smell BACON! Pics from the Bangsaen "loop" ride- It was great to finally meet Bard and Allan (ThaiCBR). Good to meet Bobbin and Italithai (sp?) too! Many of us will get together again bright and early on Friday the 5th to ride up to Chiang Mai for the Bike Week! All are welcome, but make sure you have a reliable machine and know how to ride! Good times and happy trails!
Bard
Great summary there Tony, as you can imagine Trent and Allan has a hangover degree 10 today after they mixed beer and Thai Whiskey. I joined up with the Rayong Riders on the way back who is a pleasure to drive with holding a perfect formation all the way. Ended up in there clubhouse down here slipping in some more beers, soooo late it was and early this morning. Allan and Trent on the way down to my place so there is no rest for the wicked. Great to finally meet you and your wife, my wife was really happy so she could talk with your wife and not sit bored of us drinking and talking MC talk. thaicbr
Hi Guys i got back to Nakhom Pathom about 8.30pm. It was great to see all you guys. Bard i didn't have a grade 10 hangover that was Trent, I only had a grade 4. The ride back was uneventful until we hit Bangkok and boy being behind Trent and watching him go through the traffic on that big beast of a bike was fun, he gets it through gaps only scooters and bicycles can get through any way I had a great weekend so thanks to all. and now onto Ebay to order the new clutch for my bike. Bangkok traffic, old bike and to much beer and silliness Saturday night (trying to do a burn out in 2nd gear on a 250...derrrr)
BigBikeBKK
Cheers Bard! Great pics- thank you for posting them. Agreed it's good for the women-folk to be able to talk amongst themselves and leave us guys to more important things like beer drinking and hel_l raising Trent has learned to throw that big XJR around quite well. I call it the T-Rex, he calls it the Fridge. After our long days of twisties up north his new nickname was Mr. Jellylegs You should have seen him gimping around and it was really funny watching him try to go up and down stairs! Ah well- he's young and bounces back quickly. (I miss those days) Allan- love the sound of your CBR250- Nice! An old bike like that needs a lot of TLC and I hope you can get it sorted, because once you do that bike will be tons of fun! Look forward to seeing you all again soon! Happy Trails, Tony
RusticCharm
I left Bangkok Saturday morning after meeting pretty awful traffic around Sukhumvit/Petchburi Roads on Friday afternoon. Got to Bang Saen just in time to join the Fun Ride. Saw BigBikeBKK but lost him when he pulled over (to take pics, I guess). The reception we got on the ride from the local villagers and onlookers was cool considering the racket we were making. A lot of applause and friendly waves. Nice! Bang Saen was just swamped by bikers. Amazing! Arrived at the Ducati Chonburi club cafe (a Starbucks style place, natch) and met up with 'netfan' and 'pdaz' from the board. The organiser of the Ducati Chonburi club was a Thai guy who was looked a lot like the actor, James Woods. All the pretty little Ducs in a row. That's Jerry (monsterman from GT-Riders) in the red cap. . The 'pretties' came out at sunset and graced the bikes with their presence. Netfan and PDaz are in the background. It seemed the whole range of Ducati's past catalog were on display. Many Monsters. There are my two future ex-wives by my 848. In the evening, passersby posed with the bikes for pictures and naturally Ducati (as always) stole the show. Actually I made that last bit up as it was so crowded I didn't get to see much else. Excellent organisation and the best bike week I've attended so far. Edited December 1, 2008 by RusticCharm
Bard
Allan, we managed to forget to clock you speedo with the GPS, take a photo shoot of your bike and let you run mine when you and Trent came down to my place. Guess I was running on fumes that day as well. Was nice having the short ride to 344 with you guys, Allan's bike is a really cool screamer and Trent's flying fridge was awesome. To bad we didn't have much time to run some cooler roads down here, but let's do the Eastern hills through the National parks and Cambodia trip we peeked at when I'm back hopefully Tony and many more can join as well. Good to drive with you guys, I really enjoyed it even though I was a bit hung over as well. As RusticCharm stated it was really great bike week in Bang Saen, so many great bikes well organized and yes best one so far in Eastern Seaboard. I was a bit surprised Kawasaki wasn't there with a showroom, I mean they sold most Big Bikes this year and it would be a nice marketing stunt from them, but I guess Allan did a good summary about it. Tony did you manage to get your free T-Shirt before you left? If not Trent managed to get 3, I donno how Ohh yes and ask him how he broke the beer tap Cheers Bard
BigBikeBKK
Ha ha ha! Classic thread- what a great event, good times all around! RusticCharm- your 848 is a thing of beauty As for Kawasaki not having a presence at the Bangsaen Bike Rally, well, when you compare their "flagship" showroom on Rama 9 in Bangkok to the other dealers such as Yamaha, HD and Ducati I'd have to say they've probably spent the least on showcasing their product... It's not apparent that they are doing much marketing of the new Ninja 250R, D-Tracker or KLX, but they are all selling like mad, I guess mainly by word of mouth. I do know that Kawasaki will have a booth at the Chiang Mai Bike Week and I'll be looking forward to seeing how they set it up. I did get my free t-shirt Bard - after we dropped off Allan at the guesthouse the missus and I did a loop and braved the crowds to snag our free T-shirt. We rode home in the dark (which I don't normally like to do since last time I did that road after dark I ran over a dog) but fortunately this time no dogs and we made excellent time. A broken beer tap? That sounds like Trent all right!
Ithailian
Great pics ... but, man, they just barely hint at the massive size and scope of what the organizers pulled off in BangSaen. What a party ... planned and well executed! As an added bonus, during my return to Bangkok (I left about 2300 Saturday night) I was the ONLY vehicle on the Bang-na Trat highway (except for one Hyabusa which blew by me at ~200kmh ). BigBikeBKK
A few more pics that I forgot to include--- Classic Royal Enfield- Ready for the Fun Ride (can you spot the Ozzie on the Flying Fridge in the pic?) nakedAIR1300
hey all, Great weekend, thanx all for the good laughs. Met a load of new members from this forum, it was nice to put a face to name...thanx again! I hope you can all make it for the Chiang Mai bike week. some really nice bikes at the meet, I think the Ducati's were by far the most impressive bunch of bikes there for me. Tony... your deadly with a camera! good work the broken beer tap.. that was not my fault. the bar we were at closed inside and there was an outdoor verandah drinking area with a heineken beer tap that was left unattended so i did a Homer Simpson and laid under the tap but then the thing exploded on me and was showering beer from several places. the security guard came over with a big smile on his face, fixed the problem and i went back to topping up my glass... i love this country! ended a perfectly good weekend by heading down to Rayong to meet Bard and his lovely family (thanx dude), perfect end to a perfect weekend with a nice leisuly cruise back to BKK (150km/hr) with Allan. Stopped for some afternoon refreshments at beer garden and then home for a good nights sleep. pictures coming soon...
Netfan
It was great weekend, too many bikes and people to meet up with anyone besides Rustic Charm and Daz at the Ducati tent. Gotta give it to the organizers. Hua Hin is gonna be a bit of a let down... Edited December 1, 2008 by Netfan

BSJ
Cruizin the highway, great weather, cute Duke babes for eye candy, a bikers meet and a few brews. Does it get any better than that? Are all the custom bikes street ridden or is it like anywhere else and many are show ponies?
Pdaz
Cruizin the highway, great weather, cute Duke babes for eye candy, a bikers meet and a few brews. Does it get any better than that? Are all the custom bikes street ridden or is it like anywhere else and many are show ponies? Would say that 99% were ridden to the venue.... Most of the bikes you see are home-build specials . There were a few high end custom harleys built by specialists with imported parts but most of those were ridded too.. having a big bike is expensive here so most guys that can afford one want to ride it rather than just admire it.. BSJ
Pdaz: having a big bike is expensive here so most guys that can afford one want to ride it rather than just admire it.. I feel that way myself! But a lot of muppets down here trailer their bikes to meets. Which is kinda strange!

BigBikeBKK
Holy $HiT!!! Good god where did that pic come from?! Ouch! Well, I guess I deserved it- good on ya mate! Did you still want to hit Red Baron today? I'm still debating over those leathers at Paddock. Love to get a pair, just not convinced about the quality of the ones I tried on... Otherwise maybe just get a pair of the padded ballistic nylon pants... But those didn't fit so well... Argh! Decisions decisions :jerk:
nakedAIR1300
yeah great pic wasnt it, i still have some catching to do but it was a nice start i just got back from immigration, wonderful morning spent there with great results!! awesome, things are definately going my way apart from a taxi giving me a bit of a bump this morning but not to worry it takes me more than a bump nowadays to move the T- Rex .... also it doesnt really matr as i need rear farrings resprayed from where the saddle bags took the paint off during last Iron Butt Massacre im just finishing something now and would be keen for an afternoon ride to wherever.. just let me know and ill be there with bells on

12DrinkMore
It has to be said, and I'm going to say it. What a bunch of ugly looking bikes except for the Ducatis and the Kawasakis. Sorry for any offence but really, they are absolutely tasteless. I am also not very impressed by the quality of the bitches either. If that is a true representation of the event, then I am glad I didn't go there.
