An Abac Poll conducted among teenagers revealed Friday that almot 100 percent of them insisted the next prime minister must be truly loyal to HM the King.

An Abac Poll conducted among teenagers revealed Friday that almot 100 percent of them insisted the next prime minister must be truly loyal to HM the King.

More than 97 per cent of Thai teenagers surveyed want to have a new prime minister to be responsible and decisive.

Moreover, he "must be patient and politically moral".

The survey was conducted on 1,925 respondents aged between 15 and 18 in Bangkok and adjacent provinces between Wednesday and Thursday.

Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva topped the list of who they thought should be the next PM.

The list is followed by former PM Anand Panyarachun at 33.5 per cent and followed closely by former premier Chuan Leekpai at 32.4 per cent. Mingkwan Sangsuwan gets 27.9 per cent support from respondents and 27.3 per cent for General Chetta Thanajaro, leader of Ruam Jai Thai Chart Pattana.

More than 88 per cent of teenage respondents said they want adults to stop fighting and 87.5 per cent said they want to see Thais love one another "forever".

Eighty four per cent want permanent peace and 70 per cent hope to see corrupt politicians prosecuted by the law. Some 70 per cent supported the People's Alliance for Democracy's idea of "New Politics" and strong people politics-but want it achieved in a nonviolent manner.

Eighty nine per cent said they want to see Thais express their loyalty to His Majesty the King so the King would be happy.

This is a very encouraging for the future, especially as it was done among teenagers.

IMHO

To be honest I wasn't expecting many to go for 'The corrupt warmonger who will bankrupt the nation and turn it into a republic' option as ideal PM.

No commentary regarding the Monarchy please.

Where did the find two thousand Thai teens who knew who Abhisit Vejjajiva, Anand Panyarachun, Chuan Leekpai, Mingkwan Sangsuwan or Chetta Thanajaro are?

Nothing really surprising here, do you have a copy of how the questions were phrased?

As to Abhisit, is he still around, been very quiet through the current events, hmmm? If so popular why wasn't he elected? Mind you the girls say he is handsome, but perhaps not enough to actually cast a ballot for him.

In Thailand. Where else?

To be honest I wasn't expecting many to go for 'The corrupt warmonger who will bankrupt the nation and turn it into a republic' option as ideal PM.

Wish I'd phrased my dancing around post so succinctly. :o:D

aged between 15 and 18

next time there will be a poll in the kindergaden - they can't vote as well. Of course they might have views repeated from parents, but more likely those fast polls are manipulated by the poll sponsors

In a shock poll just released, ABAC claims:

98% of Catholics believe the next pope should be catholic,

95% of bears showed a "strong tendancy" towards relieving themselves in the woods, and

80% of cats said they preferred Whiskas.

Hang on:

Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva topped the list of who they thought should be the next PM.

The list is followed by former PM Anand Panyarachun at 33.5 per cent and followed closely by former premier Chuan Leekpai at 32.4 per cent. Mingkwan Sangsuwan gets 27.9 per cent support from respondents and 27.3 per cent for General Chetta Thanajaro, leader of Ruam Jai Thai Chart Pattana.

So that's 121.1% already, plus whatever percentage Abhisit got. Did I miss something, or is there some truth behind the general ridicule given to ABAC polls? Ah, or perhaps ABAC now subscribes to "New Polling" , whereby the offspring of wealthier Bangkok residents are allowed to vote twice... :o

[yes, yes I know it probably wasn't polled that way, but I can have a giggle can't I?]

98% polled said air was a useful component in the breathing process.

Ridiculous poll.

im desperately encouraged by that. i think all troubles in Thailand can considered over. Rejoice!

Even giving print space to such a rubbish poll says a lot about the current state of Thai politics, and the jockeying for positions ahead of any election/PM nomination. Pathetic really.

:o:D Good one!

You take either 27.9% or 27.3%

So

33.5% + 32.4% + 27.9% = 93.8%

Result: Mr. Abhisit got 100% - 93.8% = 6.2%

:D

woohoo, another unreliable abac poll. Probably just an attempt to get some free media coverage of the entity.

I wish the next PM goes to Chuan Leekpai
