My first posting on this forum and it has to do with the bank deposit of Baht 800000 in order to get a retirement visa. My question has to do with the current interest that one can earn on such s deposit (if any). Also, are deposits accepted by thai immigration authorities, or only fully liquid account?

The interest you can expect is about 2.5% , soon to be lower. Also 15%tax to be deducted.

Just looked at SCB and it has come down today. 1 Year fixed deposit, 1.75%. Pathetic.
