I wasn't sure whether to piggy back on one of the many Vientiane TV topics or start a new one. I am planning to fly to Vientianne tommorrow and attempt to sort out a tourist visa on my own. I'd prefer to go with a tour group, but I couldn't find anyone offerring the trip by plane. I can't handle anymore 12 hour bus trips (i'm in pattaya).

So my questions:

1.) Can I get a Laos visa on arrival in Vientiane, or do I need to have a visa before boarding the plane?

2.) Is it possible to find a "fixer" (i've seen this referred to in the 29 page thread, but no details) who can handle the entire process for me? I'd rather not deal with the 3 hour queue.

2b.) I'm guessing the day after a holiday (thursday) will be a madhouse regarding the queue, right?

Yes. A Visa on Arrival will cost around 1,500 Baht.

Yes. Thursday will be a nightmare as there is bound to be a lot of people there who went on the wednesday not realising it was closed. Get there very early.

As for fixers. I have never been so do not know.

Go early on Thursday.

You will find the fixers just outside the gates of the consulate.

Get there by 7am and you should be fine even if it's a busy day.
