Can You Recommend A Hotel Or Resort Location

Featured Replies

Hi,

My school is organising a 5-day English camp for a group of around 50 vocational college students and 10 farang teachers. We'll need value-for-money rooms (budget around 500-1000 baht per person per night), a few convention rooms for activities in the mornings, and proximity to a beach. In addition, we'll need places to visit of educational interest (botanical gardens, museums etc.) in the afternoons.

We've been told the Chonburi area, so not just Pattaya.

Any suggestions?

Maybe the Lem Mae Pim area of Rayong...about 30 minutes south of rayong. A very Thai smallish resort area with many resorts/hotels. Lem Mae Pim itself has a decent beach and is know for it's seaside seafood restaurants...these are very popular with visiting Thais. As not many foreigners holiday in this area, prices are geared for the local Thai market.

As for trips, day-trip to Ko Samet is possible; also, the Rayong aquarium is nearby. Also, just read in last Sunday's Post Spectrum section about some large medicinal plant garden (sounded like a large public park) that is maintained by PTT Thailand in the Rayong area that might be worth checking out.

Thanks MJD, I'll research.

Someone suggested the Horseshoe Point Resort. Any comments?

Horseshoe point resort will be out of your budget I think with rooms starting at 2,800 Baht (+7% vat and 10% service makes for almost 3,300 Baht/night). They'll probably do discounts for big groups.

Nice location though, quite a few activities but everything has to be paid extra and is not cheap.

Not close to the beach, but several things not too far away (Nong Nooch botanical gardens, with the Yangsawraram temple/museum close by), Khao Kheow open zoo etc...

It is however close to a big artificial lake (Lake Mabprachan)
