Tot Supercyber Adsl In Chiang Mai Help!

Last week the guy from TOT came and hooked up my ADSL line. I have signed up for their Supercyber service. He showed me it was working using his modem, and said that my account would be activated in about a week. He gave me a number to call to check if my account has been enabled. So it has been a week, and I call the number. They say it is the wrong number. I call TOT and they keep telling me someone will call back, but never do. :o

My D-Link DSL-G604T wireless ADSL modem/router shows an ADSL signal, but won’t connect. I’m trying to figure out if the guy gave me the wrong settings for my modem, or if the account is still not activated.

These are the settings he gave me:

Username: my telephone number@supercyber

Password: my telephone number

Connection Protocol: PPPoA

Security Protocol: CHAP

VPI: 1

VCI: 32

Anyone using this service, and able to verify these settings?

Thanks.

I've got silvercyber 512/256 in Chaing Mai and am using a Billion 7000 modem, the set up page is about the same as a D-link.

Everything you have is right although I am not sure about the Security setting. Mine is set up with Connection protocal PPPoA VCMUX (RFC2354).

You can call TOT free at 1100 and they will connect you with a service rep who might speak english, my Thai is good enough that I can complain fairly well in Thai.

Just to let you know TOT adsl service has go to s**t in the last month.

I've had it for about 5 or 6 months and I used to get international sites at 400+kbps, it has now gone down to about 50. TOT has sold out all of their bandwidth in the last month and they now explain that they are only giving you an ADSL connection, they are not an ISP and that they are providing the internet access for free. If you want speed you have to get your own ISP. Not what was advertised when they first starting selling. So they have changed their story to fit their needs. If you can read thai and go to the TOT forem you will see that everybody is complaining about the drop in speed compaired to what it was before.

All in all it really is a bunch of S**t as Thanksin wanted everybody in Thailand to have low cost 500 baht/month high speed internet access but the problem is that Thailand has to go thru Mayalsia and Singapore for international service and to get the bandwidth to provide what is needed is too expensive.

If you want to see the internet map of Thailand just put internet+map+thailand in google search and the map will come up with all the stats on how much bandwidth is now available and how much they have had in the past on a monthly basis.

Yes ADSL service in Thailand is typically Thai, you pay for what you get and sometimes you don't even get what you pay for. LOS

Thanks for the feedback. If I understand all this correctly, now that I have an ADSL enabled line, I could go and sign up for ADSL service with someone like Jasmine, and not even deal with TOT?

From what it sounds like, the extra 1000 baht a month might be worth it.

Well you have an ADSL enabled line and you do have internet access provided by TOT. You will have to check for yourself and see how fast it is, I don't know what part of CM you are in. I very rarely have any problem logging into my TOT account, it's just that the speed has gotten so slow in the last month, and I don't know if or when TOT will increase their international bandwidth.

I am on my way out to see if I can find out what ADSL ISP I can use with a TOT line in my area which is Chaing Mai Land.

I was connected this last week.

Well more precisely I have the adsl carrier signal present since Wednesday, but have yet to connect.

As far as I can see your settings are correct.

After days of calls to the Call Centre 1100

I was told the server is down in my area, and will be fixed next week.

Correction.

PPPoE, not PPPoA.

I am in Chonburi.

TOT uses PPPoA in Chaing Mai and TT&T uses PPPoE in Chaing Mai.

I have noticed that TOT will connect using PPPoE but they say to use PPPoA.

Checked for ADSL IPSs today and it depends on what area of Chaing Mai you are in.

Some of them can provide service in some areas.

I'll might switch to a TT&T phone line and use Ji-net next weeks as none of the IPSs provide service in my area.

tot is definitely down, i couldn't connect since 4-5days ago, im in bkk

No problems in Chaing Mai, went down for about 30 minutes a couple of days ago but that's all. Try calling 02-5008003 or 5008083, that's the direct live to the adsl techs.

Mine started working today. Seemed barely faster than my dialup connection earlier today, but is zipping along pretty nicely right now.

Modem setup for TOT directly from the TOT website

"When you want to Setup ADSL for TOT you must know the following things.

1. Username & Password

. For 256K user

. Username will be your phonenumber (include prefix number) follow with @supercyber

. ie if your phone number is 02-123-4567

. your username will be 021234567@supercyber

. For 512K will change @supercyber -> @silvercyber

. For 1024K will change @supercyber -> @goldcyber

. Password will be your phone (same to your username but only the number)

. from the above , your password will be 021234567 and so on.

2. Modem configuration

. ( It's depend on your modem driver to get into configuration section , but the value will be the same.)

. Line Protocol = G.dmt

. Encapsulation = PPPoE LLC or PPPoA VC-Mux ( Choose one)

. VPI = 1

. VCI = 32

. ps. I don't know about the meaning of these value but the technician tell me to do like this.

3. When you got a problem ( cannot login error 6xx ) you can change the suffix of your username between @supercyber, @silvercyber and @goldcyber ( your speed connection will not effected )

The most important thing is you MUST config your modem as a WAN not LAN to make it's work !

Note : In the past TOT have use

@Supercyber for 256K

@Silvercyber for 512K

@Goldcyber for 1024K

But today they have change to

@supercyber for 256K

@silvercyber for 512K

@goldcyber for 1024K

If you don't sure about the uppercase for username , you can try the upper case for sure. "

Talked to my friend who works for TOT in the ADSL department.

He tells me that TOT will be changing the share rate which is now everybody on a TOT ADSL connection shares with 49 other users. Word has it that in Jan they will be changing it to 20 users per port so if they really do it speeds should increase sometime next month.

Hope he is correct. This thing was working pretty good last night. Today it is running slower than my dialup connection. Unbearable. :o

I have access to a TOT supercyber connection in Chiang Mai & it is definitely PPPoE with LLC & NOT PPPoA. Try this alternate setting & at the same time, disable your security settings. You can re-set security, once you know you're up & running.
