Soon New Changes For Tr Visa?

Featured Replies

I read on a german newssite, that the immigration will change the visa rules for tourists again. They want make it harder to stay long time in thailand. Someone know more here ?

Found on a german news-site about Thailand:

Derweil macht es die Einwanderungsbehörde der Tourismusindustrie noch schwerer, in dem die Visaregeln weiter verschärft werden. Ausländer haben sich nicht besonders beliebt gemacht, und besonders Langzeitbesucher haben einen unangenehmen Einfluss auf die politische und gesellschaftliche Landschaft. Und so wird nicht nur bei Investoren zunehmend nach Alternativen für Thailand gesucht, sondern auch für Langzeiturlauber und Pensionisten.

They have already made changes. Its now 15 day visa exempt entries at the border and 30 when flying in. But there is no limit on the number of days total or the number of entries.

They don't mind long stay tourists as long as you get a tourist visa from a consulate.

They just don't want people working as tourists that is all and have made it harder for them.

Posting the article in English and the source that you got it from would be helpful if you really want one of the TV gurus to give an answer to your question.

Here the link to the source: You are not allowed to post a URL.

Translation from altavista:

Meanwhile it makes the immigration authority of the tourism industry still heavier, in which the visa rules are continued to intensify. Foreigners made themselves not particularly popular, and particularly long-term visitors have an unpleasant influence on the political and social landscape. And in such a way not only with investors increasingly for alternatives for Thailand one searches, but also for long-term holiday-makers and pensionists.

It sounds like they are talking about the latest changes and is an opinion not a news article.

A few more posts and you will be able to post url's when you loose the newbie status.

I can confirm that the article mentioned by the OP refers to the changes that have already been made recently (Police Order No. 778/2551 dated 25 November 2008) and not to new changes being planned.
