GERMAN NATIONAL MUGGED IN PATTAYA

A middle-aged German national was on his way home to Naklua late in the evening of 17 December 2008, and passing by a particularly dark area, he was set upon and mugged by two Thai robbers. He attempted to fight them off, but was severely bludgeon about the head and face with a large piece of wood. The robbers managed to grab his waist bag containing cash and other possessions and escaped by motorcycle.

Police Lieutenant Chusak Pinrat, Banglamung Police Investigator, was notified at 11.30 pm., on17 December, by the Emergency Room at Banglamung Hospital that they were treating a foreign mugging victim. A police team was dispatched to the hospital to investigate the incident.

Arriving at Banglamung Hospital, the police team found Mr. Peter Pett [57], German national receiving treatment. He had sustained injuries to his head, face and body and the top of his shirt was soaked with blood. He recounted the circumstances of his mugging to the police, but was not tremendously coherent due to his injuries.

Apparently, he had been attacked by two assailants in a dark location on the way back to his residence in Soi Noree , Pattaya-Naklua road , Moo. 5. Although he had attempted to resist, the two Thais had hit him with a piece of wood until he eventually gave up his waist bag, containing a mobile phone, his passport and some cash. He was not really able to describe the assailants, nor give any other information about their motorbike, apart from its dark colour. After the incident, he had attempted to seek help in the local neighbourhood and after some time was helped along to the hospital for treatment.

The police team duly took note of the case and will attempt to discover more details when Mr Pett is in a sufficiently lucid state to communicate. The police are confident that the suspects will be apprehended and brought to justice.

The lesson is don't walk around Pattaya after dark, ride a bht bus or m/c taxi..Its no different then any other major city, punks are every where....

But sometimes youve just got to walk in darkened areas, carry as little cash as possible and just hand it over is the best bet, would appear Thais are game for stabbing you when challenged.
