Where Can I Buy Car Wheel Clamps In Bangkok?

Featured Replies

One or more (I don't know) utter-theiving-scoundrel-blood-sucking-criminals STOLE all my wheels from my Wish during the night while I was staying at my in-laws. It was like a knife to the heart when I was woken up to find rusty old wheels and bald tires on my car. We called the police but, no finger-prints, so they couldn't do anything. Basically, no-one has ever stolen or cheated me out of anything in three-years of living in Bangkok and then I loose 70k just like that. Unbelievable.

Where can I buy wheel-clamps from? I've asked all my friends, checked all the shops, nothing. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I think what you need rather than 4 big wheel clamps are locking wheel nuts. Back in the UK you could buy 4 locks which went on each wheel. Im sure you could get them on E bay or on line if you can't get them in Thailand. Good luck

Are you meaning to say they actually took your wheels and went to the trouble of bolting some old ones back on there? I have seen this before, only that the car is left there on blocks, bricks or whatever?

Yer ask the family how much to get the wheels back..................

:o Im surprised the law did not nick you for having 4 bald tyres !!!

Thanks for the useful replies about the wheel locks - I assumed every wheel had one as a matter of course, but never gave it a second thought before my wheels were nabbed.

Yeah, I'd heard the old 'car on bricks' story too but whoever stole my wheels just put old wheels on, weird huh? I'd parked outside because the driveway was full during the party. Im troubled that my car was jacked up without setting off the alarm.

My thinking behind getting a wheel clamp was that if one wheel was secure, no-one would bother stealing three - surely they are only valuable as a set of four.

My mate in UK found a clamp in 'halford' shop - around 6000baht. Don't think he can get into hand luggage during his next visit though!

This threads been read by enough people so I think we can draw a line under it.

Cheers again for the replies.

I believe that this is a "feature" (albeit a stupid one) - in case the car is ever legitimately being towed away by the cops.

I'd suggest getting a set of lock-nuts too.

Most wheel clamps that I have ever seen in BKK look like they have been fabricated by hand in the average welding shop that you find on almost every soi. Maybe you could get one of these guys to make one for you?
