Why was ping pong thread closed?

Recommended Posts

Why was the ping pong thread closed? This doesn't belong under 'farang pub'? Or was it because members mentioned their dislike for this government? Looks like we're even being censored on thaivisa.com.

In response to the rerepentative government comment, I just don't think that politicians should be meddling in the personal affairs of consenting adults. Yes, they are elected by the people. This doesn't mean they are all knowing. And I don't beleive they should impose their morals on the public.

Okay, so they have been elected by the people. So does this mean that if they walk up to you on the street and tell you to strip to prove you are not smuggling drugs that you will happily comply? After all, these are the chosen representaives of the people. Elected or not, there is a line that should not be crossed and I believe that in imposing morals on others, this line is crossed.

Does that go for child molestors, rapists, murders too?

Morals have always been forced on others because there is always a depraved portion of the poplutation that enjoy injuring and degrading others.

The ping pong shoes are degrading to women...any reasonable human being can see that.

I also think its worth asking the question, 'who should decide what is degrading and morally appropriate'?

If a woman chooses to put on a ping pong show, then in my mind, so be it. You can hardly compare that to rape or child molestation.

And if the powers that be decide alcohol is immoral, do we just go along because they were elected or because they are more powerful so they must know what's good for us?

I found those shows disgusting and should really be the ones banned under the new Toxin moral crusade. I can't understand how anyone can enjoy such shows. It's degrading for everyone, even for the audience who get polluted by such a view. Why would anyone want to see this ? if it was done in good taste like a soft porn, why not ? but this is not the case.

I never been to one but I have seen climpse of it and that was enough for me to have me run down the stair. Now the Lesbian shows in Nana are much better and it's not degrading.

If you read my previous posts, I agree with you as far as the ping pong shows. However, where do you draw the line? Do you really feel good about obeying the orders of any elected official, even when it regards your personal life?

No, but there is the question of public order. Do you really want to expose your public to such "pollution" ? difficult to say and difficult here to take a clear position.

I love it...on one hand ping ball shows are disgusting and on the other lesbian shows in NEP or OK. Gimme a break. Surely if we are to agree with miow miow they should all be banned in the name of political correctness. The government is doing what it feels it has to do to impress the rest of the world with this APEC business. Too many cops, government ministers and etc wouldn't like it too much if their private incomes were disturbed with prolonged restrictions. So forget pingball shows as a tourist attraction on the run up to the APEC conference but come back a month later...I'm sure that everything will be back to normal.

Thailand has a sex industry that gives a living to a lot of people. I say let them decide if they are being debased or not. Let miow miow and other like minded PC pinheads go and speak to the oppressed sex workers and suggest to them that they would be better off selling kwiteo at 100 baht per night in order to preserve their dignity. I would love it...the soup then may have some other interesting ingredients.

Ping ball shows are harmless tongue-in-cheek entertainment...just happens that the entertainers happen to be nud_e. There is nothing erotic or titillating that I can see..like a circus act. Looks to me like one of the 'been there, seen that' activities that tourists like. So what?

There is no sex industry that I can see where I live in rural Thailand and that don't necessarily make it a better place to live. I have to admit that I do like the peace and quiet...

Maybe it was closed for security reasons - did you read what those naughty students were carrying around as "bombs". Yeaaughh the smell! Mind you, plentiful supply of 'em just down the road from lumpini. On second thoughts, maybe this is more sinister than little innocent me realised and you could be getting more bang for your baht in future. That's the last time i go to any more Ping-Pong shows! Stick to bananas - much safer.

They never did answer my question. I guess its not politically correct, but certainly it is a part (a very very small part) of thailand and certainly we shouldn't be prevented from discussing it.

And I still think that if the girl wants to put on the show and the guy (or girl) wants to pay to watch, then so be it. That is what I consider a personal matter. No one is being hurt. It may not be in line with many people's morals, but that does not mean that it should be illegal.

Expose your Public????

Have you gone to one of these shows?

Are they really THAT easy to see/find?

Have you ever been to patpong ? have ever been bothered by these men trying to get you upstairs to see those shows ? see what I mean ? does this answer your question ?

Come on  Tutsi, be sensible please. Anybody could tell you the baby ping pong balls would just float off as soon as you stocked them and probably be eaten by the ducks. If you want to know the real source (or should it be sauce?) of these balls, i suggest you take Butterfly's advice and mosey on down to Patpong. I swear they're spontaneously produced from places the sun never shines. Perhaps they could become a new OTOP souvenir from the Amazing One.........

No one is being hurt.

Sorry, but also on this I do not agree.

The problem is that sometimes people look for the fast way to make money, and what happens to them when 40 years old on? No money left, no job, nothing. Instead if they can't do that, they spend their efforts to find an alternative job. Of course the government should provide an alternative to that kind of "work", as they did with opium farmers in the north.

Last year in Phuket, I was at Big C department store at the food court. After a while I was approached by a girl working at the court offering her "services". After she saw I was with my wife, she asked my wife if she could find a "farang" for her (because naturally she thought my wife was a pronstitute with a farang). Do you consider normal that a girl that has a job, offers her body? Maybe she does not earn much, but can live.

Because they think is normal, "everybody does why I shouldn't?".

That's why I think, someone has to stop this trend, nothing to do with moral, just force people (maybe force is not a correct word, but forgive me my English) on a different road.

Not to mention (someone can think it's ridiculous), the hygiene. Do you think putting a ball into a vagina is safe? or you think they use sterilized balls? What happens if they share the balls with another girl with AIDS, or with any other infection? Because they think to safe sex, but surely not to safe ping pong balls.

plachon...I had forgotten about the ducks and their utility as all purpose disposal of unwanted this and that. I think that we have stumbled across a hidden agenda here...that of ping pong ball eradication by those opposed to the shows. Go direct to the source...a ping pong ball pogrom. Consider the wretched ping pong balls...either being stuffed up someone's cavity for the entertainment of hyena tourists or else, in retirement, being smashed about by maniacs with paddles.

Ping pong ball preservation must start now...

Not really Doc, but they can do you a lot more damage when they come flying out at high velocity. Patrons - sit well back from the stage please. Ping pong balls are also a lot safer and user-friendly in this age of HSE (tourist cops?), than bananas and feathered darts, despite Bua-sa-ard's ("bored of cleanliness"?) reservations. Another reason for ping pong ball (sterilized of course) preservation, eh, Tutsi?

I think any girl who would do this work is not just looking for a fast way to make money. They are looking for any way to make money. So give them other opportunities and the vast majority will surely take you up on them. Problem is, those opportunities aren't there. Its just like this massage parlour crackdown. Okay, so give the girls other ways to make more than a few thousand baht a month. But of course they won't . The rich and powerful, who are probably regular patrons themselves, will shut down all these activities citing morals and where will the girls go? In all honesty, I think they will turn to free lance work, kind of like your Big C experience.

These activities will never be stopped so they should be regulated. Just like Holland, there should be guidelines. And yes, ping pong balls shoud be disinfected...
