Where Did You Have Christmas Dinner?

Took my son and daughter-in-law visiting from UK, to Tuskers last night.

We all concluded that the food was great and the portions outstanding.

Thanks Chas and Rachel for a great meal.

Hmmm, not sure if I paid for the water though. :o

I went to my place (no names, remember). It was packed. This is the first time I've sat down all day. I've been on my feet since 9am!!

Most people were enjoying themselves so it wasn't so much fun. No-one complaining, no misery-guts, in fact there was nothing to laugh at at all. :D

Nowt so queer as folk, eh! :D

The good old Queen Vic - just like i have for the previous 2 years. Great food and not bad value either. I didn't hear a single complaint from anybody, so I guess there weren't many TV members in there!

Grandview Hotel's Buffet - 140 baht incl. Chicken, pork, fish all cooked well nice plus different varieties of potatoes plus veggies cooked in butter. That was just the Western food section! I then travelled the world and ate Japanese, Chinese and Thai food before rounding it all off with bread and butter pudding, chocolate cake and freshly brewed coffee. No reservation, no jingle bells and just a few farang. Great lunch.

I drove past MadDog just after 1pm and it seemed quite empty. Same with Bake and Bite around 1:30pm

Seconded. Queen Vic's turkey was so tender and juicy.

And no, I too think that there were not a lot of TV members there - just the happy ones!

Have a great year everyone...

I did the Duke's and he outdid himself this year, delish turkey, lamb, ham, roast beef, salmon, fresh oysters, BIG shrimp, all kinds of cheeses, salads, deserts and lots of other stuff - everything of the best quality. I could not eat for the rest of the day. :o

  3. lobster
  4. smoked salmon
  5. salmon sashimi
  6. cheeses
  7. lamb
  8. rabbit
  9. 6 kinds of dessert

Too full after all that to even look at the rest of the offerings.

Nothing new or scientific about that, as most are curious in learning what idiot would really hate Christmas. Curiosity sells.......

...back on topic...... I had Christmas dinner at the in-laws.... BBQ prawn & squid, fish, chicken, mussels, sticky rice, veggies, and too many sweets and fruits to name. Wonderful time spent with all the kids opening gifts and getting more wild, loud, and crazier than ever.

I also brought some of those floating lanterns from Chiang Mai here to Isaan with me. Many of the locals had never seen this before and were quite amazed as to how high and far the lit lanterns traveled off into the sky.

Holiday Inn with "her indoors"

1. Shrimp

2. New Zealand oysters

3. from the carvery Beef Wellington, turkey, ham, with roast potatoes, baby carrots, baby peas and giblet gravy

4. masses from the desert / sweets section.

She had several returns of the various Thai food on hand.

Could barely move after that and never ate anything else for the rest of the day.

They had a group of youngsters playing violin, chello singing. Good stuff.

Around double the price of Shangri-La but I considered it quite good value..

It was better than last year and depending whether I am in town come 365 days hence will give it every consideration.

Had it at Mom's. Is there any place better than Mom's at Christmas? All that home cookin' you grew up with? :o

The place was surrounded by tall snow-flocked evergreen trees framing a huge white 15,000-foot volcano looking like a snow cone in the distance, with 3 degrees celsius outside.

A Courrer & Ives Christmas card.

For just a few hours, I don't miss Thailand.

Jim the Queen Vic is under new management. Did you get a chance to meet Pascal and Kitty? Sorry I missed the din but now in Bkk for a while. I agree the food is quite good!

Hey Chas BTW - how come you ran out of coffee at Tuskers so early? :o

It would have been a perfect finish to that Blueberry Cheescake

Sorry I didn't think we did run out of coffee. I saw someone having one at about 9pm. I'll investigate

I asked for three Coffee's (Latte) just after whoofing down the Cheesecake and was told that coffee was finished.

It wasn't a big deal and didn't spoil our meal at all - just meant we had to go somewhere else coz we all fancied one. :D

We had Christmas lunch at the Lanna Hospital canteen after seeing the ob/gyn! (Pad Prik Moo and Kra prao with KP fried rice take out ofr later) NOT the most christmassy but certainly the cheapest at 70bht for 2!

Had pie and chips in front of the telly for tea! Will remember to BOOK SOMETHING next year!
