sbk Posted December 27, 2008 Share Posted December 27, 2008 Workers block Sukhumvit Road in Rayong to demand bonusRayong - Some 300 workers of Auto Alliance (Thailand) used 50 pick-up trucks and sedan cars to block the Sukhumvit Road near the provincial office, demanding higher bonus than agreed by their companies. The workers blocked both inbound and outbound Sukhumvit Road since 8:30 am, causing severe traffic snarls. Police had to divert vehicles to use alternative roads. Two companies of commando police were deployed to the scene and threatened to use force to break up the road blockade. The workers demanded their firm to pay them six and a half bonus plus an allowance of Bt25,000 but the company agreed pay six months of bonus plus an allowance or Bt14,000.
