Visa Run Chaing Mai

Featured Replies

Hi all, i need to ask once again as my circumstances have changed. I have a 3 times entry visa to Thailand for 2 months each time, i already almost used up my first 2 months and will have to do a visa run from Chaing Mai-Mae Sai on 12 january. I tried to look up visa run companies online, but found none ?

Wanted to ask if its advicable to drive there by myself in my car? and what about that showing 20.000 Baht rule, is it not enough i show them my Thai bank account book?

Best regards, Erik

Ive never been asked for income, but i do make a point of looking fairly smart at the border just in case. A thai bank book would be fine im sure.

There are loads of visa run tour buses, just walk around by Thapei gate area and ask around.. about 650 baht.

driving on your own could be fun, i go by motorbike. By car its very slow if you dont know the roads.. but plenty of nice places to stay the night.

not sure about this 2 month bit? i thought you got 3 months?

Have you gotten a 30 day extension yet? If not you can go to immigration and get one for 1900 baht. That would save you making a border run so soon.

I think you have gotten your answers for the border run and showing the bank book already.

Thank you. Yes i thought so also, but i called the embassy abroad and they said i had gotten three entries, at 2 months each, so instead of getting only 2 entries and then get additional 30 time (immigration) at the end of each 2 months periodes, i got 3 entries , i used the first at the airport when i came here and now have 2 more entries getting 2 months on each entry. Hope this is not very confusing ? I plan to arrive in Chaing Mai sunday the 11.01 and was hoping i could reserve a visa run pr. e-mail on forehand for the 12.01?

You can still get the extension with a 3 entry visa.

I assume your use before date is 6 months after the date visa was issued.

If you get the 30 day extensions you can get almost 9 months in the country by using the 3rd entry just before the use before date.

Thats sounds clever, my visa says " must be utilized before 10.05.2009" so when my 2 months visa runs out the 12 jan, i can get 30 days at Chaing Mai immigration even with a three entry visa? then border on app. 10. feburary get 2 months, then on app. 10. april get 30 days at immigration and then 1 day for example before the 10 mai, go to border and get 2 months after they are gone, can i get 30 more days at immigration making my stay here all in all 9 months for sure ?

Correct.

As regards getting from Chiang Mai to Mae Sai it's easy to do it yourself on public transport. If you do a search on the Chiang Mai forum you'll find plenty of info.

Don't panic.

He is on a tourist visa with 3 entries.

The 2 months thing is a simple three entry turist visa, 2 months each time and additional 30 day at immigration after each 2 month periode. To be used before the visa expires, as stampet by the issuing embassy.

:o thank you!
