7 air-conditioned buses damaged in fire

BANGKOK: -- Seven air-conditioned buses powered by NGV gas were damaged in a fire early Tuesday, police said.

The buses belong to a private firm, Saha Transport which has received a concession to operate two routes in Bangkok.

Natthanan Pitithansawat, 48, the manager of the firm, told police that there was an explosion inside the engine compartment of one of the bus parked inside the firm's garage in Bang Khunthien district at 3 am.

The bus caught fire following the explosion and the blaze quickly spread to six other buses under repair inside the garage.

No one was injured.

Oops. Maybe those vehicles aren't so safe?

3am seems a strange time for a random explosion to occur............. :o

Especially with an engine not running....or supposed not to be running. The fact that this company got a concession for some routes might explain a bit more...

Is it just me or wouldn't you like to know which route numbers they were? As usual there is some information that is lacking probably due to questions that were not asked by the "journalists" reporting on the story. :o
