My wife has problem translating the writing on the back of my Garuda amulet.

My Thai wife says this is a very positive amulet, one that gives the wearer great strength and is to be worn only by someone who controls other people, i.e., a manager, president, etc. or would be good to be worn by a person who wishes to advance (be promoted) in an organization. It was probably made for an organization or government unit. It was made no more than 30 years ago (which is when they started being made) by Luang Paw Seang at Wat Bangna Phrat Tum Thai province. Generally speaking, such an article would be made of an amalgam of nine different metals. The Garuda shows a kruth, which is a hybrid of human and eagle. My wife says it is written in pahsah Krom, the ancient language of Cambodia. We'd love to see the front of your amulet...could you post a photo please?

Thanks.

Anyone know pahsah Krom?

For the record, so you have the transcribed script:

The portion in the middle is in Khmer script (the Thais like to call it Khom ขอม, but of course it's just Khmer), and the language is almost certainly Pali. I can't read it, though.

The Thai part on the left and right edges reads:

Top left: หลวงพ่อเส็ง Luang Pho Seng

Top right: วัดบางนา Wat Bang Na

Bottom left: จ.ปทุมธานี Pathum Thani province

Bottom right: ๒๕๒๒ 2522 (=1979 A.D.)

The ป in ปทุม might look strange to some because it's written in the old style, where the "tail" of the ป is detached, so it looks rather like a บ with a ไม้เอก: บ่ (only here the tail is so short it looks like a dot). This used to be how all such consonants with the extended tail (ป ฟ ฝ) were written.
