Tm 30 Reporting Of Farang, Worth Or Waste ?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

the TM30 reporting seems to be mot really enforced as I read in this forum. But I do have a couple of questions.

How often do you have to do the TM30? Everytime you leave the country and come back ? Even if you go to an neighboring country for one day ? How 'real' do they enforce the 24h time frame ? 24hs is almost impossible after a 16h Flight and jetlag.

Where do you report? Our local police station in Patumtani had no clue about such a form and was not willing to sign it. Instead we were send to the Ampoe :o They also send us away to and asked us to report in Bangkok. Has anyone done this by mail ? Do they have a seperate window for 'fast' reporting in bangkok ?

Do you report the TM30 ? Which advantages and disadvantages do I have when reporting the TM30 ?

Immigration is the place to file the report. Even some immigration offices would not know about it.

I would not worry about it.

Normally they consider that when you fill out the TM6 (arrival card) you have reported your address.

You do not have to file the TM30 it is for the home owners responsibility unless you are the home owner.

My wife has never filled one out when I have returned for a trip.

Nor does mine, but we got caught out once, when I needed a letter to confirm my address.

She was fined, and was not amused.

It must of been near lottery day and they needed the money to buy numbers.

My wife got fined when we asked for a proof or residence from immigration (to open a bank account).

samui immigration does only accept report from electronic method(mail, fax), it's written to not show up with the papers.

maybe your local office does provide the same thing?

That would be for hotels, apartments, resorts and other commercial operations. It is not for a home owner.

well this is specific to samui according to their website :

they say in red, for koh samui send only by internet wich is strange cause to be registered on the net you need to run a business wich is not the case for house's owner.
