Visa To Uk

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I am seeing a thai lady, and iam back in uk now and she is in BKK i live in uk and carry a British passport..

before taking our relationship to next level , I wonder what is the realistic chance of

Her been granted a marriage visa to uk in case i marry her?? ( assuming we provide all the required things for visa) thanks to all .

It would depend on the background of your relationship etc, you may marry her in Bangkok or the UK marrying in Thailand is the cheapest option.

Feel free to contact my company if you require any help.

Regards Paul

If you show that, on the balance of probabilities, all the criteria are met then the visa will be granted.

Nothing is impossible....it just seems that way sometimes. Generally speaking you should expect that the following points can work against you in an application

A large age difference between you and your intended.

Your wife to be is under about 28 years old with few financial assets of her own.

You cannot prove that you have known her for a reasonable amount of time ( 1yr min. )

She is unemployed with no provable work record.

These are the kind of things that the British Embassy will be looking at, not to mention your own age, financial situation, housing situation etc.

If you have a genuine relationship of a decent length of time, have met each other, keep in regular contact and have proof of this (photos, phone bills etc) then there is every likelihood that you would get a settlement visa. Just remember you would also to show that you have the financial means to look after her without resorting to help from the state and you have a decent place to live.

Only 7 years between my wife and I, but I know several couples now living in the UK with a larger age difference.

Rubbish. I know many couples where the wife was under 28; some where the husband was too! The only age requirement is that the applicant must be over 21.
with few financial assets of her own.
More rubbish. It matters not what assets the applicant has or not does not have in Thailand. It is how the couple will support themselves in the UK that counts.

The longer a couple have known each other, the better. However the only minimum requirement under the immigration rules is that they have met. I know many couples, including my wife and I, where a settlement visa was issued within less than 1 year of first meeting.
She is unemployed with no provable work record.
More rubbish, I'm afraid. Her employment or otherwise in Thailand is irrellevent. As she is emigrating to the UK she will obviously be leaving any job she may have in Thailand.

As long as you show that the relationship is genuine and you can support and acommodate yourselves in the UK without recourse to public funds then you have shown that you satisfy the criteria.

For where to find advice on how to do that see my post in this thread.

I did an application for a client who married the hotel receptionist after only being in Thailand 4 weeks, around three months later after an interview she was in the UK.
