cosmicdancer
Hi everyone. Let me ask you a question. I live in an apartment with an ADSL internet connection attached. Does a Broadband router enable multiple computers to access to the ADSL ? If so, any recommendation? Thanks for your attention
Owain
Does a Broadband router enable multiple computers to access to the ADSL ? You can get a broadband modem that will give you access to one computer or you can buy a router that will services more computers. Best bet is to buy a wifi router that will give you internet access on many computers. Depends if the computers you want to work off the system have wifi cards as well. Crushdepth
Most consumer/household routers will let you plug in about 4 computers directly, wireless can give you more. And you can always enable internet connection sharing on connected PCs to add additional PCs.
stumonster
A broadband modem will normally have a rj11 ( telephone ) connection to connect to the telephone line which is your ADSL. most will also have 4 of rj45 ( Ethernet ) router which you can use just to plug other computers into - though some will only have the 1 of rj45 for 1 computer or for connection to a 4+ rj45 router many will also have 802.11b/g wifi aerials which you can use to connect wifi enabled devices. And you can always enable internet connection sharing on connected PCs to add additional PCs. masochist
