Which Pattaya Hospital Won't Rip Me Off ?

I had a phone call from a pal who was in Pattaya Memorial hospital after a minor motorbike accident. I said oh no are you OK what happened?... i will come and see you first thing in the morning. He said you wont it's 15000Bht a night I'm getting out of here first thing! at least he still had hes sense of humor!

The 15,000 baht must have included other services. A night in a private room in PIH cost me 10,000.

Room rates could quite possibly be a good indicator of the overall cost level of any given hospital, which I have found generally has absolutely nothing to with quality of service or professionalism.

Anyone want to publish room rates for Pataya hospitals? I would, however have never stayed in one, only Bkk ones.

EG Hospital Name - Basic Share xxxxB. Private xxxxB, VIP xxxxxB ICU xxxxxB, Birth Packages etc.

I was diagnosed by BPH that I needed a hip replacement. The doctor was 'delighted' at the thought of some money for an operation coming his way. Told me I had to have the Op immediately or I would be in agony etc... That was 2 years ago and it still only hurts a bit!

Anyway, for this type of medical procedure (not sure about minor ops etc...) operation, the Medical Forum on Thai Visa had posts saying how good the hospital in Sattahip is. I dont have the thread, but if you go to that forum there is plenty of information for you to search through. Its the 'naval' hospital I believe.

With the exchange rate at 48 Baht at the moment (for the pound not the Euro), I suspect that my operation quote of around 400,000 Baht a couple of years ago, would now mean its cheaper for me to fly back to the UK and have the Operation privately in the UK. What strange times these are

Getting old is a very expensive business, even in Thailand.

It seems the doctors here are far too quick to consider the knife.

I had heard good reports of Phya Thai Sri Racha, but my own personal experience was not good. I consulted a specialist there with some severe stomach problems and he diagnosed cancer which turned out to be completely wrong. I really wasn't too impresed with the set up there, but maybe I just had a bad experience - as you can have in any hospital.

I have taken my wife to Samitivej, Sri Racha on a number of occasions and have been very satsfied with the quality of treatment and service. It is not particularly cheap, but certainly cheaper that most private Bangkok hospitals, and it goes without saying that is it way cheaper than the money machine, commonly known as Bangkok Pattaya.

I had the exact opposite experience at Samitivej hospital in Sri Racha. They recommended and had my 30-year old thai girlfriend with no history of cancer to have a mammogram. Mammograms are not recommended in the US until age 50. In short Samitivej put $$ and in front of my girlfriends health. Lets make a few extra bucks, and so what if unnecessary mammograms cause excessive exposure to x-ray radiation.

I'll give Phya thai a try next time.

Have heard good things about Pattaya International but not had first hand experience. The others you mentioned, I wouldn't go to either.

I can't say anything about the hospital part, but I have been several times to their dental clinic...for some fairly major work. Prices are great, staff is fantastic. I would highly recommend it....

My friend's wife got a nose job in Pyathai hospital in Siracha. She now looks like Frankenstein's sister!
