I'm Not A Prostitute In English (book)

Featured Replies

Hi,

Anyone know if this book exist in English? Wife says it's called "I'm not a prostitute" in Thai, but I can't find any books with that title on Amazon :o

Thanks.

ดิฉันไมใช่โสเภณี I can only find the Thai version at kubook.com ISBN : 2220430000014

Did a Google search on both Thai title and ISBN for an English version with no luck.

BTW, the wife's translation is correct.

The picture of the book cover says it's been translated to English, German and Japanese, so I guess there's an English version somewhere.

The blurb here says:

This is a novel that uncovers and exposes the international trade in women in a thorough and frank way. It's a story about a Thai woman who risks her life in Germany in the hope she can marry a German national and gain residency. It also reveals the workings of a company which claims to be a matchmaking agency that will take care of everything for the many women who go to live with a foreigner. This book is in it's 10th edition...

Apparently it was made into a film 16 years ago and was shot in five countries.

There appears to be a VCD available of it here.

Can't say I ever heard of it though.

That's exactely what my wife says too, so there must be an English translation somewhere out there. If we just knew what is was called - or how you would spell the author's name with latin letters...

I tried a search before with the author's name in Latin letters...... no luck though.

There are a few google hits for 'Phakamat Pricha', but no books in English.

Probably out of print. If so, that's unfortunate: it sounds like a fairly significant book.

When my wife encounters people who make such implications, her response in Thai is not nearly so polite. :o
