กะให้

Featured Replies

From RID มอบหมาย ก. สั่งเส้ย, กะให้ , but กะให้ is not in their dictionary. What am I missing? I have tried on-line, even Google, but it isn't slang in the RID

It may be that these are two separate words. See RID and the second part of the definition (๑, ๒) for "กะ"

The word "กะ" means "กําหนด, หมาย, คะเน, ประมาณ." The word "ให้" is apparently a tag word pointing a direction for the verb "กะ" meaning:

หมาย [V] aim; intend; expect

คะเน [V] estimate; approximate; conjecture; speculate; guess

ประมาณ [V] estimate; approximate; reckon; calculate;

กำหนด [V] specify; prescribe; stipulate; determine;

Thank you David,

กะ What a word, needs a lot of context I imagine. In the definition of มอบหมาย ก. กำชับสั่งเสีย, กะให้, I got mesmerised by all the กะ words which must be looked for under กระ, thought I had found it when I misread กะโห้ , noticed that I hadn't, but not that is was definition number 4. and like a 'dog with a bone' looked for an error, never looking back.
